I’ll Bet You All Didn’t Think That I Can Cook

I actually can cook, I just don’t anymore. Although I used to joke that I don’t “cook” as much as I “ fix”. I don’t know fancy cooking terminology or methods. But I do know how to prepare delicious food.
You’ll probably faint when I tell you that I cooked Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners for 26 years. I’d have both my family as well as my husband’s family, so around 10-12 people.
Some of the dishes I’m pretty good at include corn pudding, biscuits and gravy, potato salad, chicken with fried rice and sausage balls. On the other hand my lasagne has never turned out well.
When I was married to prior hubby for 12 years I cooked dinner six nights per week.
So yeah, I can cook. I just don’t get the opportunity anymore. I barely eat real food and it’s hard to cook for just one person.
New hubby only eats one meal per day (lunch).

@DaddyEvil Don’t tempt me! Good food without having to cook might be worth the drive!

I admit I am surprised. Not because I thought you couldn’t cook, but because of your relationship with food.
Now, of course, I am interested in how / why the issues with food started.

Cooking for 10 to 12 people for 26 years is no small thing, I am impressed. Corn pudding and sausage balls sound so good, and don't worry about the lasagne, it is a hard one to get right. Maybe cook one of your favorites on a weekend just for yourself, you deserve a good meal too.

I remember you saying before that you could cook but you normally didn't anymore. There's nothing wrong with that, in my opinion. (I actually wanted to tease you and had a good tease ready but you don't always "get" my humor so I refrained.
)
I'm so tired of cooking that I'd love it if Pretty would go out to eat once in a while but she hates to spend money if we don't need to spend it. So I cook at least one meal and usually, two meals a day and eat a sandwich or something frozen and heated up for the other meal.
I've cooked since I was 13 and took over cooking when I got tired of eating the same meal every day straight for a week. (Mom could cook but she'd always cooked for herself, dad, and sixteen kids. By the time I started cooking, there were only mom, my youngest brother and I still living at home and mom couldn't figure out how to cook small amounts so we ate the same thing every meal until the foods she made were eaten.)

I remember a few times that through no fault of anyone, I had to eat restaurant meals daily for a week, two, whatever--when my Aunt was in the hospital in ICU for a long time and I couldn't leave her there alone, it was two weeks of no home cooked anything. I was so, so sick of restaurants. And when I used to occasionally have to travel for work, I would get sick of it, too. After a while, it's just not fun anymore. If I had the finances, I would enjoy going once a week or every two weeks, if nothing but to try something new. But I honestly do like to cook.
Eating one meal a day isn't recommended by doctors...but I am sure your husband has heard that many times. If you made something he really likes, would he eat some of it for another meal?

I never thought about whether you could cook at all
Not even when you mentioned eating out a lot
So honestly I do believe you can cook, most likely very well
