Is there a place you guys continually go when you want to get away?

My dad and stepmom are going to Branson, Missouri (think country Broadway in the gorgeous Ozarks) today. They go probably twice a year, and it is their expected place to have a vacation or mini vacation, even if they just stay a few days. Our family has been going for 47 years. This time they won’t even be seeing any shows, but they will be getting together with my dad‘s sisters and brothers. They always have a good time, and I love that they have always got along so well. I wish my sister and I were that close, but maybe someday. Is there a place that you guys have a tendency to go when you want to get away somewhere? Where is it?

@JohnRoberts It no longer has the pleasant atmosphere it had when I lived there in the 80s.

Paris used to be my favorite city but the magic was gone my last trip. I would never go back now in today's conditions.

It isn't really a vacation because it is close by, but Shenandoah is always nice for a day trip or even to spend an hour or two driving around or having lunch. The Blue Ridge Parkway is also nearby, and that is fun too. I have camped in Shenandoah for the night several times..but haven't gone in maybe the past 10-15 years.

@AmbiePam I love camping, but at my age,,not really interested in the tent variety..even with an air mattress..it is still a bit of a hassle. Maybe under the right circumstances..or with the right party..but really I would want to have a camper of some sort, even if it is a pop up.

@AmbiePam - Switzerland is only one of course, Swiss Confederation. But there the country has four principal linguistic and cultural regions: German, French, Italian. I lived in the south, Italian speaking. I like a lot more the French part of Switzerland than the German side.

@AmbiePam When you reach a certain age, you have that proverbial lifetime memory bank playing like movies. You push away the bad ones and sink into the good ones.

At the seaside resthouse airbnb. My family and I stayed there for a week over the New Year. I'd like to do that again if I have saved enough.
