Taal volcano, 95km (59miles) away from where I am erupted the other night at around 6pm. According to news, the eruption was minor lasting 5 minutes. It has been reported as well that every now and then, there are minor eruptions from this volcano. One major eruption was during covid, January to March 2020 that gives us another reason to wear mask and stay inside the house.

Yeah I remember the N95 masks running out of stocks everywhere in Luzon because of the eruption. I saw one customer in once of the Handyman branches buying tons of masks and she said she will send it to Luzon for his family coz no more N95 masks there. That was even before Covid entered out country.

That must have been stressful for families trying to get masks at the time. It is surprising how quickly something like that can lead to shortages, even before Covid happened.

true. We were not wearing mask yet for covid that time and yet the masks were out of stocks because of the eruption. The sky became hazy and we had some ashfall that time

Even a minor eruption is a reminder of how powerful nature can be. I remember how disruptive the 2020 eruption must have been for people living nearby. Hopefully this one stays minor and everyone remains safe.

@septabchips that's so true. I think those people are aware already and follow directives from the local government

@rakski Absolutely. Hopefully, people nearby take the warnings seriously and stay safe. You never know when a minor eruption might become more serious, so it is always better to be prepared.

Wow, 95km is close enough to make me nervous even if it was only a small eruption. I can't imagine hearing about it on the news and then remembering the one from 2020. Hope you and everyone around you are staying safe.

Those who are probably nearest might have some evacuation plans already. So far, no announcement for the nearby provinces and towns. According to report, the eruption was alert level 1 and are being monitored
