Dear friends,
Although I have been a widow for over 26 years, I still have a long talk with my husband every October, 9th, for his birthday.
I always say that the only really bad thing he did during his life was to die so young. And I curse medicine and the doctors. New treatments come each day but medicine is still in diapers. And I know it will always will as our body is a too complex machine.
Now that I sold the last house he built (and he did not give up on life until I had a roof over my head) I think again about his incredible generosity. This house was not only built so that I could live in it. He left it completly paid under my name so that I could have money to live well until the end of my days.
I am thinking about what to take with me to a very small place. But I have a beautiful picture of him on my desk and each morning I greet him. That will surely be part of my belongins, no matter what I leave.
Happy birthday, dearest, wherever you are.

You lived a true love story, and I am sorry his life was short. I am glad you have special memories of him. Big, big hugs, Marga.

I KNEW he had to have robbed the cradle! You're only a day or two older than I am!

I wish I could have known him, too. I think I would have really liked him. Happy birthday to your hubby!

Thank you for sharing this, it was really touching to read. He sounds like a man who took care of you even when he was gone, and 26 years of birthday talks shows how strong your love still is. Happy birthday to him, I hope the picture on your desk keeps making you smile each morning.

It’s so touching that you’re trying to relive the life you shared. Though it was short-lived, you have many wonderful memories of him and feel grateful for all the love he left in your home, along with the care he took before leaving this world. He must be happy knowing you’ve continued to honor his name through the years.

He is ever nearby and watching over you; you can believe that. I light candles for my hubby during his special days. We are so lucky to have the memories

@marguicha It would be possible for some younger people to end up without any photos if their phones and/or computers break down completely or get stolen. I'm glad I have hard copies of lots of photos.
