Hurricane Check in #9

Defuniak Springs, Florida
October 10, 2026 6:24pm CST
The hurricane was over last night. We didn't get any damage persay up here, but we had some limbs down in the yard. The chickens braved the storm out there and were just fine. They still hollared and woke us up about seven thirty this morning. We took a drive about an hour ago , and went about ten miles. There were plenty of lines down and limbs and trees down all over- but no significant damage that we could see. I doubt we are going to have power before Monday- but they may surprise us. Internet, phones and power are down pretty much everywhere between us and the south end (towards Destin etc), so it's made checking on our people a little hard. But so far we have at least talked to most of our friends/family that live on that end and they are ok. Thank you to everyone who checked on us.

@teamfreak16 Now you will have to put up with me tonight. Or at least for as long as my laptop and phone battery last once we turn the generator off.

Let me know if you get power back in less than a week. I know crews are working around the clock, but it's been my experience it's taken at least a week to get power back.

I’m so glad you made it okay. I hope the power is restored sooner rather than later. It sure looks like a beautiful day now that the storm is over.

It is very good. I am very thankful. Chris will have about an hour of tractor work in the morning but other than that we will be good

Besides power issues, you weathered the storm with minor damage and you can breathe a sigh of relief.

Yep. We are very thankful. Although we live on 400 acres with trees all around us, so we were shielded.
