Unexpected Cruise Activity

So there is a Facebook Group for those going on my cruise, and I joined about a month ago after my sister suggested I do so. I casually noticed a couple people in the group had asked about getting together Sunday after we board for a brief church service. The cruise line said they could meet in a certain room, and the people whose idea it was asked who wanted to attend, and if there were any pastors or preachers who could briefly speak. Yeah, you guessed it. My dad will be sharing some words with the hundred or so who indicated they wanted to attend. Only, my dad didn’t know it until yesterday when my sister told him she volunteered him to do it. It’s fine; he doesn’t mind. But it was funny to hear her tell me about it. He’s a good sport.

That sounds awesome that your dad will preach on Sunday even if it was a surprise to him I'm sure you're going to have a wonderful time on the cruise. It will be so nice to get away and have fun

@ambiepam I'd find it somewhat difficult to react graciously if anybody hijacked my holiday by getting me to work.

I was concerned he wouldn’t take it well because who wants to be committed to something without asking first. But I guess he’s so close to retiring he’s not letting anything get to him. He is SO ready. He wanted to retire last year, and he let the church board talk him into one more year. He definitely regretted agreeing to that!

@AmbiePam Sure why do pastors need holidays anyway? They’re far too holy to bother with that sort of thing.

He seemed not to mind. I told my sister it’s okay to volunteer dad to pray for people, but when it comes to him actually doing something you should probably ask him first.

@AmbiePam - I agree, I am sure he does not mind, but it would have been nice to ask him first.

Haha your sister volunteering him without asking is so funny. Sounds like your dad took it well though, he's a good sport for sure. A hundred people is a nice crowd, hope the service goes great.

That is nice for your dad to agree to do, different places, different faces.Seems like the remarks of being on a journey..would be so natural in that context..don't they?
