My daughter will be 55 tomorrow. She has been smoking for 43 years. Every year around this time she tries to quit. Up 'til now she hasn't been successful. This time around she's talking different. I've played the gramps emphysema for several years now. Hasn't helped.
Well this time she's talking about how much she hated it. I told her I just hate to think of her son seeing her with emphysema like I did my grampa. It is not pretty to watch.
So we go forward hopeful. I lit a candle and am meditating on it.

How difficult is it to quit smoking? I will never know. I tried smoking before and I smoked only for a year and would smoke one pack a day.
When I said no more, I just stopped. But it couldn't be compared to someone who has been smoking for 43 years. I'm not sure a health scare would help.

Hopefully this time it will work for her to quit. I know some things are really hard to stop doing like that.

I guess even trying to give up means she smokes less for a while which is a good thing.
