I Wonder...

We have food delivered by UberEATS about 4-6 times a month. The app tells you their name, gives a pic, and shows their cars. Many of the cars are nice and look quite new. I wonder how many of the delivery people work for Uber to help with their car payment. It must be huge. I guess they make about $15 or so an hour plus tips. They could make a good amount dury busy times. But then you think about the gas and up keep and I wonder how that goes.

Well I can telly that when I get delivery from Walmart they alwasy have a certain percentage which is quite hight they suggest to pay the driver. However since I am already spending money for the groceries I cannot afford much more and need money to remain in my account so I always edit the amount to $5 because I am ssure there are plenty of other people tipping them the big money,

That’s a fair point. Where I live, I don’t use apps like that much, so I usually think of delivery in a very different way, with bikes and motorcycles doing a lot of the work. It makes sense that the car payments would be a big issue for people doing this in places where they depend on a vehicle for it. On top of that, wear and tear adds up fast, so the money probably looks better at first than it really is once all that is included. Some people probably do it mainly because it is flexible, not because it solves everything.

Yeah those still using gas will have difficulty. They should have increased their fees already.
Some are using hybrid and e-cars already.

That is a good question since one trouble spot is having to deal with auto repairs and flat tires that cost money to keep the auto on the road.

That's cool it does all that in the app. But maybe some do it for that reason. Wonder if it would be enough money though? hard to say

Delivery services usually require proof of insurance before they take you as a driver. And many pay more insurance to deliver.

I've never used any of those delivery services but I don't think they get paid much over here or get much in tips. Most of the people I see round here are on electric bicycles with bags labelled Deliveroo and they are all men, all dressed in black from head to foot with balaclavas, like bank robbers, and most speak limited English.
