I’ve been had!

When I have to buy a card for someone, I sometimes cringe at the price. Most might be kept a week or two at the most; some a bit longer but it seems such a waste of money to pay $5 or $6 for a decent card. Sometimes there are stands of cards in a newsagents or pharmacy which has cheaper cards and I try to keep a small supply in the office so I’m not caught having to pay for high-price ones. Maybe I’m a bit mean. When we visited Amanda’s Garden, there were a number of stalls selling various wares. I spotted these lovely cards which were only $1 each. They bring back memories of really old-fashioned cards. Now I’ve discovered they are postcards and just a single sheet which is a bit of a pity. However, I’m sure I’ll find a use for them sometime.

@nawala123 It's sensible to buy when the price is right.

@JudyEv Sending postcards used to be the done thing when one went on holiday. I remember my aunt being quite offended when people didn’t send her one.

We sent quite a few postcards when we were travelling overseas.

Maybe you could surprise your overseas friends with them? It will be so much cheaper to send to faraway places than a full letter/card, and what a way to make someone’s day with something so pretty! Or, put them all in one picture frame next to each other, and you have a lovely collage to hang on your wall. I actually did that with a bunch of postcards I had a couple decades ago. It made for such a lovely wall hanging.

Those are great ideas. Thanks. I must check out how much it costs to send a postcard nowadays.

I don't even remember the last time I bought a card. I have no idea what they cost!

Anything a bit special is expensive. I always try to find cheaper ones when I don't need them so I have them on hand.

@JudyEv - Since I don't have a girlfriend anymore, I don't need to buy cards. Problem solved!

Those are beautiful post cards. I do have one friend who spends winters in Gulf Shores, Alabama. She sends me postcards off and on when she is gone. Other than that, I haven't gotten one in years.

Those four postcards are lovely. Postcards used to be a single sheet in the past. Postcards were usually sent during holiday vacations showing the place where we were vacationing. Cards with two sheets and an envelope were sent for the Christmas Holidays.

That is my understanding too. I was expecting these to be two sheets.

I don't really see why you can't send them as cards, I guess it's just a bit of a nuisance that they are not free-standing. Is there anywhere near you which sells blank cards (for making your own)? Because those are quite cheap (they usually work out at around 10 to 15 p each) so if you got a pack of those you could stick these pretty cards onto them and that would solve the issue and not be expensive.

I was thinking about sticking these onto card but it's not a big deal either way. It was just that I 'assumed' (there's that word again) these were a folded card. Next time I'll know to ask.

Not mean at all, those card prices are crazy for something that ends up in a drawer. Those old fashioned ones are so pretty tho, and a dollar is hard to beat. Even as postcards I bet you'll find a nice use for them.

I'm sure they'll come in handy. I like having a few on hand in case I need one in a hurry.
