What is the weirdest way you have injured yourself?

I have a couple of contenders for that. Once when I was a kid I was down in the basement before school. I am not sure what I was doing down there. I don't know if my mom sent me there to get something for her, or if I was looking for an article of clothing or what..but I stoved my toe..It was more than a stub..and it really hurt. It affected my walking..and I could hardly walk that day. As a matter of fact I remember the principal and another teacher carrying me to the bus. It wasn't broken..and only painful when I walked. I still don't know how it happened. Another time, I knelt on a jack on the floor one of the steeples broke off in my knee. That really hurt, but it worked its way out. I have a couple other strange injuries. All of them when I was a kid. What is the strangest way you have been injured?

I am sure I will be the winner. One time I somehow stuck the prong of a pitchfork into the end of my toe. Not the top, the end. We have never figured out how. Another time I actually managed to drive a nail into my thumb. Thankfully I was using a hammer

I hope you had shoes on with the pitchfork incident. Honestly, that sounds like something I would do.

Read my comment, I got stuck hanging from my upper lip on a chain link fence. It was crazy scary and sore.

@JohnRoberts Consider yourself very fortunate. I was accident prone when younger..but haven't had too many injuries as an adult and none very serious. I guess I became more cautious.

I’ve been clumsy my entire life, so you don’t have the time to read all of the weird ways that I’ve injured myself!

@snowy22315 — okay. I blacked my eye taking my guitar off of my neck too quickly.

When we were really small we had a chain link fence around the yard, the part that us kids were to stay inside of anyways. The fence was 5 feet tall and there was a board that ran along about a foot from the top of it. It was to add support so that the fence didn't get weak and fall one way or the other. One Sunday afternoon, when my parents had another family over for a visit, us 4 kids and the 5 of them were playing on the fence. We were walking the boards in single file and then jumping off onto the other side, which was what we were NOT supposed to do. I jumped off of the board and on my way down My upper lip got caught on the top row of the chain link, leaving me hanging by my lip. The others had to tell our parents, who came to my aid. I had to be taken down, but the damage was done to the inside of my upper lip, it bled and had a very jagged cut. I remember the other family gathered their kids, packed them into their station wagon, and headed home. I never cried, the sight of that much blood of my own silenced me. I had to go into the hospital to have stitches put into the inside of my lip. It was sore for quite a while.

@snowy22315 After that, we all learned our lesson, and my Dad was able to take down the fence because he knew we would stay where we were told to, the back and side yards only, no going near the front yard nor the road.

Kneeling on a jack and having a piece break off in your knee sounds awful, I winced reading that. The toe story is wild too, not knowing how it even happened but being carried to the bus. Mine was way less dramatic, I once sprained my ankle just stepping off a curb wrong.

Funny that could happen just stepping off a curb. I have twisted my ankle before, but don't think I really have ever sprained it.

I have injured myself several times in very silly ways. I got a bad burn a day that I had a metal pan in the oven, I forgot I had turned on the oven. I opened it and I grabbed the pan with my bare hand. I am glad I used my left hand, because it was out of order for several days.

@LadyDuck I talked on here before about getting second degree burns from a poptart..if I was closer to medical care, I probably would have gone. It was very painful.

I don't think I've had a strange injury. I trod on a chop bone once and I can still remember the feeling of it going into the sole of my foot.

I’m not even sure where to start, but I guess I’ll start with childhood injuries. Back in the 1960s sliding boards on the playground were made of real metal. My brother is four years older than me and he was going down the slide on his belly feet first. So I thought I could too. But you see, I was considerably shorter than him. When my feet hit the ground, my head hit the bottom edge of the metal sliding board and cut my forehead open from side to side. I had many Stitches and a pretty good size scar. Here’s an example of just one of my many Adult injuries. I was standing on a step ladder, scraping the ceiling of the front porch. I moved the step ladder to a new position to scrape in a new area, but I failed to notice that the porch had ended, and there was a several inch drop to the driveway so when I stepped up on the step ladder, I went completely down on my face

Ouch, ouch to both! I broke my wrist when I was a kid, and got hit in the eyebrow with a shovel full of dirt Other things too..my parents were neglectful in many ways. I was very energetic, curious and needed monitoring
