She showed some intelligence

Deer, especially this time of year, are not known for their smart moves. Many damage cars or get damaged or killed themselves by dashing into traffic. As I left town this morning and went over the bridge for one of the rivers I looked to my right. I got great eye contact from a young female deer. She settled patiently and did not come out into the road. When I came home there was no evidence of her colliding with anyone else. I hate the carnage I see of young wild animals on the road in the spring and fall.

Glad she waited. Some do seem smarter than others

I am very happy that she didn’t end up as road casualty. I also feel bad when animals get hurt on the road.

I am always super careful when I am near any river as they like to go to and from the water. Glad that you were safe.

Glad she stayed put, they really do get unpredictable this time of year. Nice that you caught that moment of eye contact too, those little things stick with you. I hate seeing the roadside stuff as well, so this one made me smile.

That is why I was glad that in some places there are wild life crossings so these animlas can cross roads safely,
