This is where we had dinner Wednesday night. This place was recently a mexican restaurant out in the boonies. It is in a town even smaller than our town. The lease ended and the owners decided to come back in and re-open serving BQ, steaks and some seafood.
We tried to go for dinner Monday night, but they only opened for evening service on Wednesday night, so we made other plans and hit this place up Wednesday night.
I had looked online and they advertised a steak special for $20 with 2 sides, and an oyster special for $20 with 2 sides.
We were the second couple there Wednesday night and the owner came out and sat by our table and talked to us for about 15 minutes. Turns out she is a coonass from Louisiana just like my hubby. So there was a lot of conversation about different places in Louisiana, growing up, etc.
When the waitress came to take our order, I asked about the specials. She told me they didn't have any specials and looked over to the owner to confirm. She clearly stated there was no special and I told her it was online and posed in the county group by the restaurant. She again said there was no specials. So we browsed the menu while she proceeded to tell us about the steaks and where they buy their meat from.
My husband decided to order the steak she was telling us about and 2 sides, and I ordered a BQ brisket plate with 2 sides. I chose the baked beans and potato salad and chose wet BQ instead of dry.
After she left, I asked my husband what kind of steak he ordered and he said he had no clue. I told him that he would probably get the highest steak on the menu ($45).
Our dinner came out shortly and we were both in for a surprise. My husbands steak was all cut up for him and I told him that is cooked just like the photo online of the steak special. My dinner looked like strips of bacon that had been put in a food dehydrator and left for a week or more. They drizzled a little bit on BQ sauce on top since I ordered "wet." I told my husband that he definitely got the better food tonight.
However, he did not care for the steak at all, and said that it had too much grizzle in it. He already knew what I thought of the brisket. Nobody in the south serves thin slices of brisket like that. It was so hard and tough that I could barely cut it to eat it.
My husband remarked that he really did not want to go back there. I said well maybe a sandwich for lunch would be okay. So that is where we left this place stand. It will be a maybe going back. Overall, it was a pretty disappointing dinner!
And if others are getting food as bad as ours was, I don't think they will be in business long.

@Shivram59 Normally, I would refuse to pay for something like that. But we had a nice conversation with the owner and it would have been very awkward. As of right now, we will not be going back unless we go for a sandwich and that will be a long time from now. I want to do a review online about the place but she knows our name and that will also feel weird.

That certainly sounds like a very disappointing dinner out as well as not having the specials and the prices online,

@valherma00 Yes, it was beyond bad. It has been on my husband's mind too. He commented last night that he can't believe that they thought their food was wonderful.
