I have 2 clients today one was an hour in the morning and quite simple just helping an elderly man have a wash, a feed, and some walking exercises. And now I am on my second client and this is for 2 hours but she is sleeping a lot as she is unwell so I am basically just sitting down making sure I am there if she needs anything and that she doesn’t fall. Watching the client monitor making sure she is alright is quite boring and I feel quite guilty to ba paid doing nothing much. I asked the previous carer if she needs help around the house but she said no so the 2 hours is dragging on. I thank God for the blessing of a chill shift. It feels like he wants me to rest.

I am glad you do not have a very hard job for this Saturday. Bring a book with you so you will not be too bored.

You are still supplying a vital need so there is no need to feel guilty. Take the opportunity to rest your back.

I have learned to enjoy it. Today is the same, she slept all throughout the shift.

Enjoy the quiet moments without feeling you have to justify them. You deserve some rest, too!

Honestly dont feel guilty, just being there so she dont fall is the whole job. Some shifts are heavy and some are slow, and today you got the slow one. Enjoy the rest, you probably earned it from the busy days.
