Back With The Sleepy Client

I am taking care of the sleepy client again today. And instead of 2 hours it’s for 8 hours. She is still quite poorly and recovering from chest infection but I am happy to say I managed to convince her to have a wash and get out of bed today and have a meal downstairs. She continued to sleep after that but she is less drowsy compared to the other day. I have been talking a lot with her on her wakeful hours because I want her to be able to sleep better at night time. Now she is sleeping again and I am trying to make the time go faster by keeping myself busy with only one side hustles.

Getting her up and moving around sounds like it will help. You sound very caring and hope she recovers from her chest infection.

I managed to make her eat a full meal too! The carer I relieved was so happy with me today. Hopefully she gets a better night.

I'm sure that it will help her to get around and moving a bit.

Yes she needs a bit of stimulation.

It has to be pretty boring staying there during 8 hours. At least you do not need to lift her.

She is good on her feet and really easy to help. People who help themselves are easy clients. The hard ones are those that can do things but somehow refuse to do so.

Well learning to make the most of the sleepy time so I don’t feel like time drags on. Quite a light shift to be honest. And I love it!

you are right. talk her so she can sleep longer but, yes, convincing her, that's not easy for anyone.

I did my best to keep her stimulated throughout the 8 hours so I hope she sleeps well tonight.

I think you are a good caregiver. It is better if she doesn’t sleep more than an hour during day time so she can sleep well at night,

The live in carer I was relieving was so happy and said to me I done really well and was what the client needed today. I have been a night nurse I know the nightmare of a hyperactive night patient.

Sounds like a long day but you're doing a good job with her. Getting her out of bed for a wash and a meal is a big win. Hope she keeps getting stronger and the time goes by quick for you.

It’s a long day but for me the work is quite light compared to what I’m used to. I actually like this job. It feels nice to help kind old ladies:
