Ah, Rome.

Rome’s being washed by heavy rain today but that’s ok. We’ll cafe hop. I had no option but to start last night’s repast with a little saucer of olives, oil and delicious bread, while awaiting the starter of a deep fried zucchino flower stuffed with mozzarella and anchovies. The pasta course was amatriciana - think rigatoni with a sauce of slowly cooked pork cheek, tomatoes and pecorino. Main course polpette, meat balls in a tomato sauce with grilled vegetables on the side. All washed down with the big house red. Dessert: only one thing needs to be on the dessert menu - tiramisu. Espresso doppia. Nice walk back to the apartment. I love Rome now after a life time of somewhat negative experiences.

Negative experiences in Rome? That's a shame. I've been twice and just loved it. Glad you are enjoying yourself. I particularly remember a patisserie near the bottom of Via Cavour, I wonder if that's still there?

Yes, Caffè Pasticceria Cavour is still there. My friend was in Rome last week and she sent me a photo.

Same kind of weather here in the north. I went to the dentist this morning, do not make me hungry, I cannot eat for some hours.

@ladyduck I hope your mouth will allow you to eat soon. I cannot imagine being in Italy and not being able to eat.

That whole meal sounds amazing, the stuffed zucchini flower and the amatriciana especially. Tiramisu is always the right answer for dessert, no question. Glad Rome finally won you over, rainy cafe hopping sounds like a good plan too.
