Why Does Healthcare Have to be So Complicated?

I don't even know where to begin.
The primary doctor (PCP) wants me to see a GI/Liver doctor. Okay, I have one of those who did my colonoscopy last year. I really like him. I called his office and he has no appointments available until August of 2027. That's 10 months from now. So I asked for the first available appointment with ANYBODY in his office and there isn't one until April 2027, which is 6 months from now. They told me they could get me in sooner if my PCP sent over a STAT referral.
So I've messaged my PCP, which I'm sure she's getting tired of, asking her if she would send a referral over to the GI/Liver doctor. On a side note, she did NOT give me a doctor's note for my travel insurance. But she did send me a message saying she was more comfortable with me staying home than going on my trip, so I'll use that message if necessary.
I'm in a weird loop that I don't know how to get out of.

And I remember when the VA medical care used to be a joke. I’d probably still be sitting in an emergency room waiting to be seen for my fall last week if I’d gone to a civilian hospital.
Things have really gone downhill since the pandemic.

You said a mouthful of truths here. I've lost track of the number of times I have been in the ER with my son, for over 24 hours. It's crazy and beyond ridiculous.

I know doctors are backed up and getting appointments can be hard but waiting 10 months or even 6 months is crazy. Hope you can get that referral from your PCP and get in to see the GI/Liver doc soon

Stat referral seems the way to go. I think you need to find a new specialist though. You can't wait that long to be seen, plus you don't know what is causing the issue. Your liver isn't anything to play with, you don't want to wait too long, and end up needing a liver transplant. You know, I think someone on here once recommended the Mayo Clinic to you. I think something like that would be very helpful. You probably need to have your meds and baseline evaluated and start over from the ground up..You have all these different doctors and meds not in communication with each other and keep adding more. It is no wonder your liver is confused, and doesn't know what to do. Don't sit on this for your own good,

Can't imagine why I have a dim view of healthcare and medical professions.
