Near Disaster

So most you know the airline lost my dad‘s CPAP machine, which he wanted to use as a carry-on. Well, what you do not know is that he also had sleeping pills. He takes about six a month (started when my mom kept him up all night when she had dementia ) goes without them a month and so on. Luckily, he brought them on the trip so he could sleep through the night and not constantly wake up because of the lack of CPAP machine. Well, he took one the other night and we almost had a disaster. My stepmom woke up to him, putting on his jacket over his night clothes, and telling her he wanted to go get a pizza. She said she’d go get him one, but he insisted that he would go get one. It was then she noticed he was sleeping walking while under the effects of the sleeping pill. He walked out the door unsteadily and started going down the hallway where he encountered a woman and a wheelchair and she asked for their help because she was stuck on the doorway so she and my dad started trying to pull the woman out and pull the woman out and finally they got her out. Well, he starts walking towards the deck to go outside and see what’s out there and she panics thinking he’s gonna go overboard, but he stays inside and goes looking for a pizza. He finds one on the Lido deck, eats the whole thing and then starts walking around. She begs him to go back to the room, where he finally goes. He then goes back to sleep, wakes up in the morning, and remembers nothing. He still can’t believe he did it, and said he won’t be taking another one. Poor guy just hasn’t slept well since my mom got sick decades ago. Barely even takes Advil.

Oh no that is SOOOOO dangerous. I hope you've all begged your dad to not take anymore of the sleeping pills. That's scary. Oh my!

Just now
We didn’t have to beg, don’t worry. He’s never touching them again, sleep or no sleep.

I have heard of them having that effect sometimes. I have heard of sleep eating too. If he was asleep that whole time..that is so scary

That is definitely a scary situation. I can certainly understand not wanting to take any more.

Wow that's pretty scary that you dad was sleep walking and didn't remember a thing when he woke up. I would have been so worried he would have gone overboard, Thank God Diana was there the whole time,

I know they can remember nothing when they move around while sleeping. He was lucky that nothing bad happened.

Gosh what a scary experience! Glad they were able to help the woman who was stuck, I guess they wouldn't have been able to help if this hadn't happened and they hadn't been there, but the rest is pretty worrying! And not remembering a thing about all that would really frighten me

This was so scary. It could have been worse. And doctors prescribe them like candy.

Oh, some sleep meds are wicked. My ex did almost this exact same thing, and like your Dad had absolutely no memory of any of it. He never took that medication again. So glad Diana was awake and alert and he is ok!!

Oh wow, glad he made it back safe, that could've gone a lot worse on a ship. The pizza part is kinda funny though, he really said nothing's stopping me. Hope he finds something that helps him sleep without the scary stuff.
