A breakthrough in the treatment of melanoma (skin cancer)

An Australian-led phase 3 human trial has produced a cancer vaccine to reduce the risk of recurrence and/or death from melanoma. There was a 42% reduction in the risk of recurrence and, as might be expected, researchers are over the moon about the results. It also opens pathways for developing vaccines to hopefully treat other types of cancer.
It’s a bit beyond me to explain in a paragraph or two but you can read more about it here: https://www.abc.net.au/news/2026-10-23/melanoma-cancer-vaccine-breakthrough-georgina-long/107303082.
New Zealand has the most melanoma cases (63.48 per 100k of population); Australia was second (53.34 per 100k) followed by Norway (39.45), Denmark (37.71) and the Netherlands (37.01). It surprised me that Norway, Denmark and the Netherlands had such high numbers.
Rather than find a photo of skin cancer, I’m treating you to another of the photos I took at the Rose Show recently. The class was for a ‘floating rose’.

Didn't know that there's a high rate of skin cancer in the countries you mentioned.

I saw something about that on the news. It can be deadly so glad they are making progress on it. It does seem strange about the Scandanavian countries as you would think they would be buttoned up most of the year, however my dad is half Swedish and has had skin cancer.

Beautiful roses.
I don't keep up with cancer stuff, if I get it or have it I'd rather not know.

Beautiful photos, and I love the way the entry on bottom left has found a dish to mirror the shape of the flower!
Indeed that is good news. Like you, I'm surprised to see northern Europe up there. I knew Australia had high rates due to the large number of Caucasians living at low latitudes (is that the right word? Nearer the equator than they would have originally been).
