His Problem Not Mine

Just discovered that our scheduler changed my 1 client for hour shift tomorrow for a 2 client shift . One for an hour and the other one for 2 hours. So he shorted me an hour. Now for the first and second shift he only gave me 15min interval schedule wise and now that I am planning my journey for tomorrow I discovered it is 44min to an hour min travel to get there. But I am not stressing he can worry about it tomorrow it is his mess up. I am not even going to hurry up for this second shift. I am going to take my time and be safely commuting and if I’m late I will say the schedule was unachievable. Also I can open a discussion about the commute times with this as I think maybe truly he does not know I don’t drive despite me ticking the walking and taking bus mode for transport. Looking for other jobs now. I don’t want to work for a company that don’t take care of their people but pretend to do so.

Yes, that is probably wise.

Yeah I have my husband’s blessings to find another job. Thankfully. Hopefully I find one soon.

Some people are unreasonable sometimes. I ignore these higher ups and if there is a dillemma.it is him or her to deal with.

Yeah I shall take my time and inform him this tomorrow. I seriously am done with this. I am polite but this has gone a bit too far. Do you think this is an honest mistake or deliberate?

I’m pleased you are looking for another job. Like you said in your previous discussion, they are taking the piss. Once is possibly an error, to keep doing it is not on. The don’t deserve you.

Yeah I don’t want to act like a diva but I think what I’m asking is reasonable. How could they expect people to just accept this ridiculous conditions. Well on the upside they will pay me a bit for the travel as it is from one patient to another. But I am not rushing and I will not apologise for something that’s not my fault I will let him call the patient regarding the scheduling error tomorrow. This upcoming Saturday they want me to do again that 1 hour shift that I mentioned on my previous post despite me being very vocal about it not being efficient for me financial and time wise. I will send him an email with a computation of how this shift makes me feel like I am earning 5 pounds an hour. Apparently CQC counts travel time as work hours and on average with the actually work hour my income should not be lesser than the minimum wage.

This is the right attitude, if she miscalculated the time you need to go from one place to another is her problem, not yours.

Yep I will send him a message tomorrow about it and take my time getting to the next client. Hopefully he learns his lesson. If client asks me why I am late I would say it was physically impossible for me to get there in 15 min even by car. And there has been mix up by scheduler.

@LadyDuck True. I shall not be crucified for it. And I am not apologising for someone’s mistake.

@flapiz - You are right to tell the client where is the problem should the client ask.

This whole thing is getting silly. Maybe he really hasn't paid attention to the logistics. That aside, can you drive? Or if not, could you learn? It's such a useful skill to have.

I cannot drive and I would love to but that would take time and in London anyway driving can be a nightmare specially finding parking. I don’t know if he’s deliberately wanting me to quit.

...a 15 minute gap when the trip is almost an hour is just not realistic, that would stress anyone out. Good for you for not rushing and staying safe on the bus, it really is their mess up. Hope the job search goes well and you find a place that actually looks after its people.

It must be complicated for you to handle that situation. Hopefully you get a solution for it
