This evening, supper was finished early. Why? The twins have their skating lesson tonight. They need a bit of encouragement because getting the basics down is never 'fun' but work that needs to be learned. On Saturdays the 4 of them go to the Family Skate, and they love that. It is much more relaxed and they can practice what they've learnt. I had to dig out some really warm clothes to wear, as I was cold this afternoon during the warmest part of the day. I'm even going to wear sock, and I never wear socks until the snow flies, but....... What are you doing this evening?

That's wonderful that they enjoyed the Family Skate. It is more fun indeed when you're just relaxing.

They are gaining confidence on the ice, we saw it tonight. It is important because if they are invited to a skating party, they need to know how to skate safely. They have to be able to skate forwards and backwards by the end of this session. They haven't started with skating backwards yet.

@Juliaacv I love skating but it's just roller skates. I have never tried ice skating yet because we don't have a skating rink here. We did many years ago but it was too small. Only for children.

The full moon looks pretty cool here tonight. We have alot of passing cloud cover, so it is 'spooky' looking and it is as orange as a wheel of cheddar. Watching the littles skate was alot of fun, lots of tears and some smiles, our son's twins didn't cry tonight because they knew that we were coming to watch.

That sounds like so much fun for them. I can’t imagine how much joy that gives them, or will give them as they get used to it. I’m doing some reviews I neglected while I was away, and I hope to catch the World Series baseball game tonight. I think this will be the final game if things go the way people expect.

Willow cried a little before going on the ice, but she quickly stopped when she saw Grandpa and I. We were just a little encouragement, and she did quite well tonight, much better than last week her parents told us. My son told me that doesn't remember learning to skate, just that he always knew. I laughed at him and told him that when he was in JK, it was full days but every other day. We had an arena in our neighbourhood, so on the off days from school, I would pack him up in the car and take him to the free skate and I wanted to, and did, teach him to skate-no chairs, no leaning posts, just him and me. I cannot skate any longer due to my severe osteoporosis, so I had to donate my skates, but I would have them each skating within a month of one on one. They will get there with their Saturday family skaing sessions. I hope that the baseball game is a good one tonight.

Just watching TV. I don't like driving at night here at all. I only go out if it can't be avoided.

No, I don't like going out at night either, but my husband does the driving, which is safer. It was worth getting all bundled up and going out the girls were beaming with delight when they saw us and waved and smiled. I haven't seen the chicken dance done in years, but they did it on their skates tonight.

It was alot of fun. They are getting a little more confidence on the ice. They are the tiniest kids out there, the others are 7 or 8 years old.

I have guests today, so yesterday evening I had an early dinner. I baked two small chicken thighs in the air fryer and that was my dinner. I watched TV until 10 pm.

Yes, they take ice skating lessons. Helmets are mandatory as are single blade ice skates. When they began, they were so small that they had to wear those double bladed skates. They've come so far.

Practicing the basics is the boring part but the Saturday family skate sounds like the payoff they need... i bet theyll be smoother on the ice in no time. Hope the lesson goes lit, igt the cold is worth it for that.
