Hello everyone. I hope your day is going well. It is 69 degrees F and sunny here at the Jersey Shore. I drove back here with the top down. It might be the last time for several months. (I hope not) I hustled my butt off at work today. I taught from bell to bell. This year is much better than it has been in many years but it is year 25 and I am really starting to feel burned out. The behavior of the students just gets worse every year. They also are not supposed to be using their phones at all during the school day but after 2 months they have gotten too comfortable with using them during class again. I'm back at the apartment with the cat crew. I have to do some baking for tomorrow but I'm sitting down for a little bit. What's everyone else up to this afternoon?

Enforcing the phone thing is very difficult for schools from what I hear. Phones definitely don’t belong in a classroom, when there is already enough for any teacher to deal with. I am having an exciting day of caring for the son and cleaning the house. But it’s ok, we are home and that means a lot.

I always tell students that biology is hard enough to learn when you ARE paying attention but it is impossible when you aren't.

@NJChicaa It bothers me a lot that it’s so apparent many of the kids are not being taught to be respectful of anyone- not just teachers or anyone else. And they think they are going to die if they don’t have the phone in their hand!

I am doing well working on completing surveys and sharing news stories under a warm sunny afternoon with the temperature at 84 degrees Farenheit.

I still remember the one teacher who would take our watch away from us if we looked at it while she was talking. She thought it was rude. She was my favorite teacher ever, but definitely not because of the watch thing. I can’t imagine how difficult it must me to enforce the phones with the feelings of entitlement these kids have.

I can imagine dealing with phones in class would be a nightmare. We're about to go shopping.
