Do you get the laughing gas?

I’m not sure how many countries use “laughing gas”, but I had some today at my dentist office while she was fixing what grinding one’s teeth can do (I thought I was just getting a mouth piece made). I mentioned I was starting to get a migraine, and she said she was going to offer the laughing gas anyway and it might make my migraine go away too. It absolutely did, and I slept through the entire appointment.
I know “the gas” makes a lot of people goofy, but it just makes me sleepy, and while it does absolutely nothing for my back pain, it definitely gets rid of a migraine. I think I must have been forty before I ever used any as I’m fine with getting cleanings and everything else.

I remember having it as a kid, but I don’t think it’s used in our dentists anymore. Certainly not the ones I’ve been to. Usually they administer a numbing agent with a needle if they have to do things like root canals, and with a more than concerning look of pleasure while they do it.

@AmbiePam I’ve not had a gel, just a needle that looks way to big for the job in hand injecting an amount of fluid that takes far longer than seems necessary. Then you’re left with numbness that lasts for hours and you can’t even drink a glass of water without it just dribbling out your mouth.
Laughing gas sounds so much more fun

That's interesting it helped getting rid of that pain at least.
Never used it myself. Either had numbing shots or was sedated fully

@AmbiePam yeah I imagine that wouldn't do a whole lot. I'd be leaving if they just gave that

When my daughter was little, she was absolutely terrified of the dentist. She would scream bloody murder every time we took her to get her teeth cleaned. The dentist would give her laughing gas just to calm her down. And it was hilarious, because she would get so loopy and say the funniest things! Sometimes I would be in tears from laughing so hard at the things she said while under the gas.

I did not know that laughing gas could get rid of migraine headaches since I take aspirins.

I thought of you and this laughing gas while i was at my dentist's chair for almost 1,5 hours 2 days ago
.and since the dentists in general communicate poorly here(only share a few words),i wish we had this too.music of their choice was in a very low tone so i couldn't focus on that and i seriously don't know how i survived almost 2 hours there.i wish i slept, like you.
also, good job for going to the dentist, even though you're not always in the mood for it

I have never been offered that and haven't actually used Novocaine that often. I would be curious to try it though.

We never have that here. Dentists here don't give us laughing gas.
