It seems, according to two weather sources and some eye witnesses, that Kansas does not think it is fall yet. It had an outburst of temper that was evidenced as a tornado just a couple of miles east of me this afternoon. Silly Kansas, tornadoes are for spring and summer. I have seen heavy snow on this date before.
I was about fifty miles west, so I saw none of it. The tornado did not touch down, I believe. No one is reporting any damage. Isn't weather wonderful?

It has opinions and creates its own schedule. I heard there's a polar vortex somewhere, but Florida remains on its own planet.

A few years back we had snow the first week of October. Not this year, though.
