We had a real pea souper last night ….
I wonder how many of my MyLot friends outside of the UK will know what that is …..
Have you heard it before ?
Is it a phrase that you use ?
A pea souper is a really foggy night !
Pea soup is known to be really thick ….
We came out of the pub last night and we could hardly see our hand in front of our face ….it was that foggy.
It wasn’t like that when we left the house earlier and it’s bright and sunny this morning, so I’m not sure why we had fog !
Is there a strange phrase that you use to describe the weather ?

I hope we get some good fog here this year. I enjoy watching it grow.

@Traceyjayne ......yes. it starts out so that you can just see it and it grows to a very foggy display. I love to watch it increase.

I’m not sure . It usually is foggy the day after Bonfire Night, which I think is the result of the fireworks ….

A pea soup fog is used here, but it isn't super common.

Our American friends like to drop the “u” so maybe they know it as a “pea soper”? Not to be confused with a “pie and pea supper” which I used to enjoy after a game of darts.
Apparently it’s going to be another one tonight!

@Traceyjayne I’ve been to one of those clubs….liquor in the front, poker in the rear.

I know the phrase. If in London, it's referred to as "London fog" in some Hollywood movies.

We know and use this term although where we are now we don't often have really thick fog. I remember trying to get back to a B&B in Ireland and we could barely see the road in front of us.
