I think they would be thrilled if I moved there

So, my mother told me the house across from them is for sale for 222,000. She would love to have family take care of her and my dad since they are very old. Even though I have long thought about having a summer place up there...I am not about to sell my house and move up there. My mother is just a very difficult person to be around. She is always right no matter how ludicrous some of her views are.Especially as we became older she wasn't a very good mother and has always made me feel less than. If she needs care, she is on the list for a local senior facility. They could both go there as they have a memory care unit, and it is a nice place. They keep declining it when an opportunity presents it self though My sister even has encouraged them to apply to a place near her...but I don't think anything happened with that.

@LadyDuck Argghhhh! I don't know what it is about parents that they feel they can talk to you any type of nasty way they want. Not that she does that that often to us, it is my dad that gets the brunt of it.She ought to be ashamed, but she doesn't have any.

@snowy22315 - The time I stayed 2 weeks to take care of my mother after she had surgery was a real pain. She appreciated nothing of what I did, but praised that idiot of my brother all day long!

Taking care of parents is stinking hard, and I imagine an argumentative one would be even more difficult. My dad already has it in writing to send him to a nursing home if he can’t take care of himself. He doesn’t want to be a burden on his kids or Diana.

There isn't anything wrong with her staying in the home if that is what is comfortable, but she needs to be willing to let people come in to do it. She can't expect family to do it all. She neither knows nor cares how difficult she really is. I meant do her care, but I see you got that

I think it’s best to stay away from her for your own peace of mind.

It would be nice, but they would go through their money pretty quickly. My dad might come to the point where he can't be maintained in the home though

My sister wouldn't want her moving in with them..but she would be willing to have her in a nearby facility.

I had to block somebody on my LOT once because she was being cruel to me that I didn’t take my mother into my house and take care of her. My mother was crazy, literally.. and there are a couple of my letters even now that hint that I took the easy way out by putting my mother-in-law into a facility instead of bringing her into my home
But I totally get where you’re coming from and understand that you have to take care of you and not everybody’s mother is a good one

Yeah, I mean I wouldn't necessarily call her a bad mother..but she's difficult and often unkind. I am not putting up with her.
