Book orders coming in …..I hear “ Christmas Presents “…..

I’ve had a busy morning so far. One of the things I am doing, since my retirement , is selling books …both fiction and puzzle. I have a friend that , through his work, is able to get brand new books and he passes some of those on to me . I sell on fb marketplace and occasionally on eBay. ( only to UK, as postage costs would be unreal to other countries …..so this isn’t a sales pitch ! ) It’s not a fortune nor is it regular, but hey, as a sideline I’m very happy with the way it’s going. Anyway, I think that now November is here , people are definitely thinking of Christmas and presents and I have had several orders come in over the last few days. It’s great that I can offer these at such low prices and help others with the cost of things especially at this time of year. Also of course, I get money to spend on treats for us at Christmas. I am up to date with getting all orders wrapped and ready to be posted on Monday ….we are at the caravan this weekend. So, I have spent the morning under a mountain of bubble wrap and sellotape …. I love it when a plan comes together….. What have you been up to today ?

All these side lines add up. If you love books like I do you probably get a kick out of seeing the books as they go through.

I do love the fact that I’m passing books on to those who genuinely have a love of books and reading. Yes, between my sidelines and freebies from apps I don’t do so badly …..

It’s got to be such a good feeling to have a profitable side hustle. And especially when you get to buy treats for the family. It’s just 7:33am, and I go to the doctor in about an hour. I’d really like to go back to bed though!

As an avid reader I always have books on my mind. I'm glad you have some ready to go out to buyers and can put some extra cash in your pocket. Books have become so expensive so if you can offer them at a discounted price that's awesome. Here's to many more sales!

I love books too, and when I get chance I love a good read ….my Mom is the same, she reads every morning and evening when she goes to bed. She gets through a fair few books … So far I have 5 for her for Christmas , but they won’t last long … Luckily there are still folk who like to have ‘ actual ‘ books as opposed to downloading onto their phone or iPad,

I have read UK postage to other countries and astounded it's over 5 pounds just for a regular letter. I know a few years ago it was much less than that because I bought the stamps.

Yes, postage has really gone through the roof here ….we have family and friends in America and New Zealand and we used to send presents, books, calendars etc but the postage is way more than the gifts now … we send a lot more emails than letters and cards now because of the postage charges … I think it’s a great shame as letters and cards are the way older people keep in touch …they don’t do texting and email, but , now they can’t afford the stamps.

@JohnRoberts I didn’t realise that …..I don’t know what happened , all we are told is that the prices are going up ( constantly )….we used to get a postal delivery 6 days a week ….now it’s only 3 days . The whole system needs looking at. I think with people texting and emailing more and more and people using Amazon etc that have their own delivery service, our main “ Post Office “ / “ Royal Mail “ , is being used less and less and instead of thinking of ways to improve or get business back they simply put the prices up. It’s probably more complicated than that , but that’s what we, the public, see.

@Traceyjayne What shocked me is your postage is way higher than ours to UK etc. What happened? This is steep recent increase.

Postage even within our own state is prohibitive here but I'm glad you're doing well from the sales.

Love that your friend passes on brand new books so you can keep prices low for christmas shoppers... sounds like a great retirement sideline. Under a mountain of bubble wrap is a vibe, i bet it smells like victory fr.
