I Just Can't Win For Losing

Now really, I'm okay, and I'm not trying to be a complainer, but it's just funny how much can happen all at the same time. I have a history of migraines. I had gone maybe a whole year without any, then in August I had 13 headaches but no Migraines. In September I had 10 headaches plus 13 Migraines (23 days of head pain), October saw 14 headaches and 1 Migraine, now in November I've already had 2 headaches and 4 Migraines. Last Night was the mother of all Migraines. I haven't had one that bad in a long time. It was so painful and I was vomiting and crying. OMG it was so bad. I woke up with a headache this morning that has the potential to turn into a Migraine. I called my Neurologist to see if I could get in to see him any sooner than March 202, which is still four months away, but they still don't have any appointments. They did, however, put me on their "cancellation list" I'd like to have a day with no aches or pains or problems.

Oh, weird...that is a good description of the migraine I had yesterday, all night, and this morning. I think I scared my son. He was really worried. But thankfully it has faded at last, of course I have that somewhat ''wiped out'' feeling, but hey, it's better than pain! The world of neurology is a strange one. As my primary has said, neurologists are a breed all their own. I hope you can get in sooner.

I envy your strength in dealing with this. I have trouble coping with the slightest issue.

The number of headaches you are having is concerning. I hope someone cancels real soon.

I really do understand. I’m so sorry you’re struggling so much with these. Does your neurologist have any nurse practitioners at their office you can see? Mine does, and I started seeing her for my appointments, and when I did Botox for migraines. Yours might not have NPs, and you may not care to go to one. But I just thought if it might get you in earlier, you may want to look into it.

Thank you for the suggestion. I will call back and ask about that. And yes, I'm probably now a candidate for Botox therapy for migraines. May I ask you - did the botox injections hurt?

@LooeyVille Well, it was about 12 of them, and a couple of the ones in the back of my head were startling with the pain. But it was so brief, and the ones in the shoulders and forehead weren’t bad at all. And if you don’t notice a difference right away, stick with it because sometimes it takes more than one visit (you go every three months) before you get the full effect. Also, it might just be 8 injections because my NP would put Botox in the muscles connected to my jaw to try to lessen the teeth grinding. So the 12 might just have been me.

@AmbiePam Vain question - did the ones in your forehead do anything for wrinkles?

@LooeyVille no . Luckily I don’t suffer with migraines, but I have a couple of friends who do and I know it knocks them about completely for a couple of days ….

@Traceyjane Have you ever had a migraine? I hope you haven't but if you have you know they're bloody miserable.

Very tough time indeed. Even without it, life is a big headache as we are forced to swim in stormy waters barely able to keep our heads above them. I think with the right diagnosis you should be able to get a permanent cure for migraine, or, maybe, it stops automatically like for some I know.

I feel so bad that you've been having such horrible migraines. My mom used to suffer with them and she would be incapacitated sometimes for days. I hope they can get you in sooner to see the neurologist.

I wonder if there have been some subtle changes to cause the sudden onset?

Try breathing exercise. Inhale from the right nostril while pressing the left then exhale from left nostril while pressing the right nostril.
