A nice and unexpected treat came our way.

Some of you might remember that I found an iPhone in the road by a stop sign, not far from my home. I could not access it of course, to discover who the owner might be, so I dropped it off at our local police station. Actually, I had forgotten about it until this past Tuesday. We were doing son's appointments as usual, and when we came home, I found an envelope in the door. It was from a young woman who had lost the phone and found it at the police station in the lost and found. It didn't fall off of a car like I thought it probably did. She had been pushing her twin baby sons in a double stroller, and put it in the stroller. Somehow, it had fallen out or whatever, but she tried to retrace her walking route a few hours later and of course I had found it by then. She did claim it two days after I turned it in, but she didn't know who turned it in. Her mother told her to go and find out who did turn it in, which was me. We came home and we had two gift cards for pizza for a local pizza place that everyone loves. Such a huge treat for us! We had one the next night and it was delicious. We are going to try to save the other one for a few weeks to enjoy it later on. That was just so nice of her to do that, I didn't expect anything. Anyway, it was a really nice gesture, and I am very glad she got her phone back! And we really did enjoy the pizza!

I remember that you posted when you found the iPhone near your home. She was so kind to find out who found her phone and to give you the gift cards for pizza. It has been a very nice gesture.

That is really special. So kind of the woman! one good turn deserves another. How lucky she checked too. I am not even sure I would think to go to the police if I lost my phone. I am so glad she did.

Maybe it’s because our area has so many college students, but it seems to be standard practice here if you find something of value and have no clue who the owner is, you take it to the police station. But hey, everyone is happy when the lost is found!

Oh, Marie, that’s wonderful! I’m so glad she got her phone, and it’s wonderful you got a treat to go with it. It probably made her whole month that you turned it in. People can be so appreciative. My dad found a wallet, and when he returned it to the address on the license, the owner offered him money he wouldn’t take. So he mailed the church (he told the guy where he pastored) several restaurant gift cards.

Several years ago, I found an envelope with a check in it, the check had the person’s name and addresses but he lived about an hour from me. I tracked down his phone number and called him. He asked me to mail it to him so of course I did that. He sent us a gift card for pizza that covered two trips for us. Weird. That I found those things both times and was given pizza cards but hey, we really did enjoy the treat!

That was very kind of both of you. I imagine that she was grateful and wanted to show that with the pizza cards. Alls well that ends well isn't it!

@MarieCoyle You did. We should always treat others as we would like to be treated. And it literally inspired someone else to do a good deed. We need more of these actions.

I just tried to do what I hoped someone else would do if I lost my own phone. We were happy to be surprised with pizza! Yes, all is well and it ended well, too.

@Juliaacv It’s just the right thing to do…I know I sure hope if I lost my own phone I would love someone to make the effort to return it if they found it. Thanks, Julia.

We really did enjoy it, and since she gave us two pizza cards, sometime soon we will enjoy the other one, too.

Her mom telling her to go find out who turned it in is such a good detail... Saving that second pizza card for later is lowkey genius, ttyl and enjoy it.
