Best Responses not selected on many postings!!

United States
March 12, 2007 8:27am CST
This morning as I am going through the postings, looking for quality postings to respond to.......I have noticed many, many discussions that are several days old or longer and a Best Response has not been selected. Now I have to wonder why this is occurring. Are posters forgetting to go back and make those selections? Are they also forgetting to rate those responses?? I know I wait a few days, and then I make my Best Response selection and rate all of the responses. People! Do not forget to check your unresolved discussions. Does anyone have an idea why this pattern of behavior is happening? Are we getting lazy?

I have some of my discussions to go through also and choose a best response for. I really wouldn't say that I am lazy, it is just lack of time on my part. I only have so much time each day to be prductive and respond and earn online. I have several programs that I am joined with that I earn from daily. Mylot is an added bonus for me. I have alot of things to do around my home daily to keep up with. I will get around to choosing a best response for my discussions soon, I hope. I just need to make some more time to do so. This is my reason for not choosing a best response for all of my discussions yet. I will make it a point to do so soon.

I suppose I would have to toss a coin. I really wish that we had the option to choose a Best Response and a Runner-up since many times there are several really good responses depending on the subject matter being discussed.

I wait longer than a few days to pick a best response. You have to give people ample opportunity to see your posts. I give it at least a couple of weeks, then I make sure to rate all posts, and give best response.

I think it has happened for a variety of reasons. Some people on myLot don't even know what best response is, so they are not doing it. You are right, they probably don't even know they should rate they replies too. Reason two, is some people just care about the money and they don't rate or pick a best discussion. The other reason could be due to the varying length of times before a user picks a best response. I usually wait a week. Some do it in the same day. Others wait a month or more. Well that is my opinion on it.

I tend to wait a while before I chose one. Depending on the topic the person that started the discussion might not think that any are worthy of best response. It never fails that once I select a best response someone else comes along with a better response and I can't change my pick once it's made, so I tend to wait a couple of weeks.

They may be lazy or they must be lacking in information in the paticular feild or discussion.

I will wait at least a week before I select the best response or I wait till I have 35 Responses which ever comes first and then I will select I think that is only fair to give other People a chance to get there.

OK, I will admit, I have some discussions that need to have a best response selected. But it is not because I am being lazy. Some are because I really am having a hard time selecting a best response. And some because I do not think there is one that I should have a best response. I have noticed that if I did not get much of a response at the time...it does not always stay dormant. I meet new friends and they like to go through old discussions. Then, all of the sudden *Poof*, there is a response that makes me smile or laugh and is deserving of a best response. Or how about discussions that have over a hundred responses. Then it makes it that much harder to select! At times I wish they would allow a best response per page when the response level reaches a certain level. Because then, there are several responses that I think are deserving. But I also like to wait until a discussion is no longer being responded to. If I select a best response too soon, I am cheating those that could have written one heck of a response. :) I see best response as a huge compliment. And, I like to make sure that the person receiving that compliment is deserving. But as for rating positive or negative...I do that as I read each response. And I do not mark a negative just because I do not agree with one's opinion. I think negatives are reserved for a person that likes to answer with one of two words. Not much of a response deserves not much of a positive rating.

It's sad that some people are only looking for what is good for them, they don't care to give best responses or rate other members because it doesn't make them any money for themselves :( I always rate everything i read and I give best response in a week or two, i can even leave it for a month with slow discussions but i always come back and give a best response.. I tend to delay giving a BR just to give a chance for more people to post before I make my choice.

I do mind once a month. if they are only a week old I will wait until the next month. I like to give everyone a chance to receive best response. I figure some are like me and miss a lot so they have to miss out if I don't wait for a while.

I think that's for a lot of reason. Maybe the person is so busy to check his Mylot account, next there is no qualified response based on his/her standards and lastly maybe the person starting the discussion has a set time frame before giving the "mark best response" so we just have to be patient and wait.

I wait until a discussion has had a month to generate responses. If I choose a best response sooner, I might be cheating someone else who has not found the discussion yet.

Hi, I am new to mylot. Till now I have not selected a best response. If I have only one response for many days, do you think I have to select that single response as the best??. I am just curious to know how it works.

If you have just one response, I'd give it at least a few weeks, if not a month. In fact, I'll try to go post over to your discussions now to add some more responses.

I think this is basic hygiene, just the way you cannot forget to say "thank you" to someone who has helped you.I feel the person who started the discussion will have to pass on the credits to the deserving candidates who have posted a response after anlaysing the given question. When the responder has given some time of his/hers to answer our question why cant we take some time to appreciate it if it is good. I request everyone to acknowledge each and every post /response for your question. This way we can appreciate one anothers effort for involving ourselves in this community

It is because the best response button has gone when you have not already mark or select the best response in a few days. I have discussions who only had 16 posters but I have not yet choose the best response when I came back to choose, I can't because mylot has taken it away.

I think some don't worry about ever going back to their discussions while other like me didn't realise for a while how we are supposed to make best responses. I know it took me a few weeks to work out how to make discussions 'resolved'. I usually leave my discussions a few days though before I give a best response as I wouldn't want to pick the first one and then another really great one comes along and I can't give two best response!

I'm certain this is happening more often because of 3 reasons and the first one has happened to me more than once. I have several questions with only one reply and some of those replies are terrible responses yet I have been told that I must give a best response or my earnings are lowered. The second reason more than one excellent response and the person that wrote the question doesn't want to pick one over the other great response. The last reason is clear the person that posted the question doesn't need the money or as you have suggested is lazy.

Thank you for bringing up a discussion that many members want the answer especially for those newbie. But, after go through the responses regarding your discussion, I feel doubt how people actually to mark best response?

The reason behind this is quite cear it is because most of the people are just after the money so they post discussions and just forget about it and do their own stuff. I generally try and mark best responses when i feel that everyones done with responding to my discussion.
