March 20, 2007 10:58pm CST
Melt about 8 tbs.butter in a skillet. Take a bananna and cut length wise and place face down in butter. Cook a few minutes, then flip over and cook another 7 minutes. Make sure you have enough butter to see constantly. Then sprinkle with cinnamon and sugar and pour butter from skillet over it and serve warm. Or, with ice cream.

fried banana is the most famous food in my country. The only thing is that our preparation is different. This is from what we always do here in Malaysia. 3 Pieces banana - Sliced (vertical) Some sugar to taste, 1/2 cup flour some water Oil for frying. Method. mix the water into the flour and mix well. add the sugar and the banana - mix again. Heat the oil and fry the banana until the color become abit brown. Eat warmly with the hot tea or coffee...

YUMMY!!! I wrote this down immediately when I saw it. I also ran out and asked my husband if he'd stop and pick up bananas when he goes to town later tonight. My daughter and I can't wait to try this. Thanks Margie!

The only other time I have heard of fried bananas (not plantains) is when I was very small. Mom would take the older bananas and fry them in the skillet. She always served them as a side dish with pork chops. At the time there was a huge eeewww! factor for me, and I do not believe I ever tried them. This sounds like a dessert to me. Or it would be good served on a waffle.

Yummm. I dip bananas in crumb mixture first then fry like you have suggested. Pineapple slices crumbed or battered are also yummy.
