I find it hard to believe that after all the years and deaths in Iraq and Afghanistan from road side bombs, the government is just now really beginning to try to come up with a safe vehicle.

What I do not see in this article is any report of government recovery of assets or zealous prosecution of the scam artists. I think marijuana taxation would be an excellent source of revenue for all the states. The police have better things to do. Legalize the stuff and just tax it. Treat it like alcohol and tobacco, regulate its sale and make money from the taxes on it.

It is really hard to believe that the administration cannot or will not do a better job of checking the tax records of its nominees. They know their tax records will be looked at by the opposition. Surely there are qualified people for these positions that have managed to pay their taxes on time.

It is sad that mental health appears to be totally absent from the current national health care debate. Many people are denied access to required mental health services. It is estimated that up to 25% of the people locked up in prisons should actually be placed in mental health facilities. This increased visibility of atheism on campus is interesting in that in flys in the face of conventional wisdom. In the past, religous affiliation increased during times of war or economic hardship. A person would not expect an increase in the activities of atheists or agnostics in today's economy.

The whole concept of non-taxable employer provided fringe benefits needs to be examined. If the employer pays the $1000 per month premium for a person, that should be counted as income to the person.
