Non-Believers-Asking for Evidence

Lately, there seems to be an over abundance of dicussions started by non-believers,asking mostly,Christians for evidence that God exists. I find this very confusing and baffling. If you have no belief in his existance in the first place, why ask for evidence that he exists? Is it just to mock or make light of our beliefs? Most people who are searching for something to believe in, do ask for proof that whatever they're searching for, does exist, but, form what i've seen here, the people asking the question, have no intentions of changing their beliefs or seeing things differently, even if they were provided with what they're asking for. So why ask at all? Would really appreciate your responses.

I have a very sad answer. People who don't believe have to ask because believer's testimony doesn't speak for itself. This also rests force of conviction to many statements believers make: they sound hollow, learned by heart but not practiced with heart. Deeds speak louder than words, and Christian deeds havn't been encouraging, lately. Paul calls believers an "epistle...known and read by all men". What do non-believers read in us? Do they read God's love, God's mercy, God's compassion? I rather answer to mockers than losing an opportunity. Once upon a time I was a mocker, too.

I think maybe my question wasn't fully understood. While I agree that many Christians, unsure in their own faith and beliefs can sound, as you say hollow and are not applying what they were taught and what God requires in their every day life or in the deeds they perform. But there are many Christians who would not ever think of insulting someone for their non-beliefs, or question someone as to why they believe as they do. And yet, these same people, are asked for evidence of the existance of God, for no other reason that I can think of, other than to belittle and attack us for believing in the first place. I as a Christian myself ( if you read any of the responses i've given on this topic, I think you'd agree)that I have not badgered, insulted, or degraded anyones religion or non- beliefs and in most cases, neither have other respondents of these discussions, (started mainly by a few people I won;t mention here) and yet, after mocking us for beliefs in the same breath, asking us for proof of the existance of God.And what i'd like to know is, why?

Everyone has in one way or another, Christian or not, come in contact with someone, who, for no other reason, feels the need to attack you, merely for disagreeing or not believing what they do.And I totally agree that mostly, this is found in online discussions and forums. And that's exactly the people i'm referring to.I can't, nor would I ever defend the entire Christian faith,What I meant when I stated that there are lot of us who would not even begin to try to turn someone else around or belittle their beliefs or non belief,is speaking about people I know personally and have as friends. But I also believe , that "both" sides of the spectrum, could find a better way to stand up for what they believe, without ridicule, insults and rudeness, and you have proven by your response that this can be done.

I think that alot of people starting those discussions are just asking because they for some reason think that they'll get alot of responses for it. For instance, something iritating and wrong usually gets more responses. Basically they are thinking that they are going to be more popular for starting a contreversial topic. I have certain beliefs, and i'm not a big religious person but I do think what they are doing is wrong. I think that there may be some out there that truly want to know more, but they are few and far between. I would ask to generally see what kind of responses i got, and yes I would appreciate them. However I try to stay out of such topics, as to avoid offending others.

Thank you for your response.that was the whole point I was trying to make in starting this discussion. And I do think, like you, that there may be some people who truly want to learn more. But from reading a lot of the discussions here, started by those who are asking for proof that God exists, I think you maybe hit on something I hadn't thought of and if this is the case,I myself, have to stop responding to these discussions and ask myself why I do in the first place. In the long run, it's probably not worth it.

I think they are crazy people. Just wanted to cover up their mistakes. Not only in case of God, they ask for proof for all petty things. I really come across such people, but don't try to argue with them.

I don't argue with anyone who believes differently than I do.But I do admit and maybe i'm wrong, I do get angry when certain people , claim they know the "truth" and Christians are just ignorant.I guess they should just be ignored.Thank's for your response.

Those that say they don't believe really just do not want to believe. I think everyone knows there must be a God. Deep down, they know. Most of the people I encounter that claim they do not believe in God have had some very hard times in their lives and they blame God for it. They want to punish Him. They need to focus on the good things that God brings into their lives. They need to know that He loves them and only He can get them thru these times and they are missing out on the greatest joy there is by knowing Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior. God bless.

I have to disagree when you say that they just "don't want to believe",name one person that you may know, that hasn't had bad times, tragedies, hardships, whatever. And even those of us that do believe, tend to question God at times or ask why, it's just human nature to want answers,to anything we don't understand and God being the power force of a Christians life, maybe needs to have these answers more than non-believers,because, we have also known his mercy and kindness. We also know that though , we may suffer lifes tragedies, he will never give us more, than we can handle through the strength and courage he provides How can someone who doesn't believe in God in the first place, get angry at him?, or want to punish him?,You would have to already believe that he even exists, to blame him for anything. And a lot of non-belivers just don't. And yes, there can be is great joy in believing in Christ as your personal Lord and Savior. And may God Bless you as well.

We all have had bad times and tragedies in our lives...some more than others. But some people choose to blame God and cut Him out of their lives because of it, whereas others choose to lean on Him and let Him guide them thru. That is a huge difference. God heals, but He will not force Himself into anyone's life. I've gotten angry at God before and after a while, I realized that being angry at God was making things a whole lot worse for me. I chose to let Him help me and heal me and He did. I also asked for His forgiveness for being angry at Him and blaming Him for what I was going thru. Life can be really hard at times and I have learned that if you lean on the Lord, you will be ok and it is easier than trying to deal with things on your own. A lot easier!

Hi, mari610, First of all ask all non-believer of GOD, why they get pain when somebody hit them. Ask them to show the pain, in case they can show their pain, then I will show them GOD. Here in India, many things are there who prove the existance of God. One example, one temple is there in India, where you will find 1000 of scorpions moving around the temple. None of them will bite human beings. Even if they bite, nobody will feel the pain or any side effects. There is a temple in Assam; the goddess have monthly period. They keep the temple door closed for 3 days during that time. On 4th day when the temple opened, you will find the cloth covered the goddess used to have full of blood. Do you believe this. Yes, this is true. There are many, many mystery which nobody can answer. IGNORANT PEOPLE FOR CHEAP POPULIARITY TELLS THERE IS NO GOD. THERE IS ONLY ONE GOD. THAT IS WORSHIPED BY DIFFERENT RELIGIONS UNDER DIFFERENT METHOD.

The bottom line here is that people who worship GOD whatever form they may have, pagans, christians, muslims & others, believe that there is a Supreme Being. An Entity that is Higher than Man, and that sounds good for the idea of God as different from man is existing. I would say that we do not judge others who tell that there is NO GOD (to judge others is not Godly even...just let them be) For the word GOD actually came out from their mind. Meaning they also believe that there is one, they are just forcing themselves not believe...Who is making a fool of themselves anyway? Happy MyLotting! :)

Whether you believe it or not God exists.See everyday we see sun is running east to west without rest, this is 100% true.Actually speaking this is not happening. Our earth is moving around, so the fact which you see everyday you believe blindly.Where as when we speak about God nobody want to believe. What we can do, let the Lord open their heart to see the truth about Lord Jesus Christ.

I have always found it curious that atheists are even interested in posting endlessly on discussions relating to God and religion. Ask them why, and they say they are just fed up with religious people, yet here they are, day after day, engaging religious people in religious discussions. You would think they would be bored by now with these endless repetitions of the same discussions over and over, but alas, here we go again. Without realizing it, they themselves are some of the best proof I've seen for God's existence. Something (something big) is tugging at them, and it just won't let them go.

That was my question, but just put in another way. Why the over abundance of discussiions, seemingly by the same people demanding proof of Gods existance? it just doesn't make any sense to me.But if you read the above post by silentrose, she really may have it on something . If they don't believe, fine, no ones asking them to, but at the same time, if they do have something "tugging" at them , why not just admit it without insulting or degrading a Christians belief, they just might get better responses. but it seems to me , that 's not what they're looking for at all.

God's ways are not always easy to understand. It is difficult to reason out many things in life. Prayers help in overcoming such negative feelings and responses alike.

Hey, I'm a believer in my own religion and I still ask for proof. Not from any person really..but the world. Because I mean..we know that concievably..everything we know to be true has a basis which can be proven. It's just a matter of our ability to do this..and not alot of us can, no. But at least we can try right? Nonbelievers..mostly the discusions which -I- have seen, asking for proof..have been by folks who were tired of being harrassed by overzealous believers. Though yes..even some unbelievers are jerks..just the way the world is. So..*shrugs* I guess that's my two cents, heh.

it's so normal, if you read bible, many of prophet can prove God, but this time many of the people of God, preacher can't make it happen, they can't prove it. normal for unbeliever say that, so the believer must take correction, make God real in your life after that the people will believe. the right question is, why the believer can't prove it if God is real? why? why? we must make correction, because we can prove the real thing

Because it's not up to us to proove the existance og God. We believe in him by faith and his presence in our lives. You can't give that to the unbeliever. thank's for your reponse

I am one of those who posts them, those who are asking for God's existence....But just for the benefit of discussion. As a believer, we can define and say our piece the way the belivers should do. I post with a "GOD is only a theory..." in the title.... and some have a violent reaction of the title saying their pieces without even reading the whole discussion. I use the title for it is catchy i think, but it does not follow that i am a non believer... The title may sound negating God but the content is positive, very positive about God and Man and Man's hardship to prove GOD's existence using man's senses. I should say, trying to oppose to the "non Believers" that you are pertaining to, and saying things coz you want to prove GOD's existence will not work out to win in the discussion. I would say, using their own premise will make you win. If they say God do not exists for they cannot be proven by MAN. We could simply say that..."It is the very reason why he is GOD, because man cannot prove his existence". Remember, not only non belivers raised discussions like those....Believers too...just for the sake of discussion. It is a matter of how you are going to handle the discussions you are involving yourself. Do not look at it as something that could mock your belief...but as something on a different point of view where knowledge may come in. I hope i have answered your question :) Happy MyLotting

I am a believer, and I am one of those people who don't need physical or tangible proof that God exists, and when people ask, it's hard to come up with answers. We can't really say what is in a person's heart, whether they are seeking or not, so I try to answer in a way that does not mock their disbelief, but will maybe give them something to think about. God gave each person a God-shaped vacuum which only He can fill. People try to fill that emptiness with everything but God, and the only thing we as believers can do is be a living testimony and pray. We are called to love others, no if's, and's or but's, so that is what I strive to do. If someone wants to mock my faith, that is ok, God never said we wouldn't be mocked or put down, but to expect it. But because I have been mocked in the past because of my faith, it makes me more determined not to mock others who don't believe or who have different beliefs. It is not up to me to judge what is in a person's heart, it's only up to me to love others, and be an example of God's love shining through me.

We actually have a non believer in our extended family. He will raise questions, and will sit back and wait for your answer. He never seems to come up with a rebuttal. Our whole family says he is a wanna be Christian. So we keep praying that he will except Christ. He can be a real stinker and part of me thinks he is a Christian he just likes to get us all worked up. So maybe these proof seekers want to believe in something and are hungry for God's word who better to ask than a Christian? Yes my glass is always half full! At times it also runs over!
