Paris Ignored! Wonder of Wonders

At last one member of the media doing something (nothing LOL). Could this be the first to show how sick people are about the coverage of of an idiot when there is so much real news going on in the world. Do you think it will make a difference!! US Weekly blacks out Hilton LOS ANGELES - Paris Hilton gets out of jail on Tuesday and she won't be on the cover of US Weekly on Friday? How, short of the Apocalypse, is this possible? "When it came down to it, the staff and I felt what I believe a lot of people in America are feeling. Which is just enormous Paris fatigue," US Weekly Editor Janice Min told The Associated Press on Tuesday. As a result, Hilton not only won't be on the cover, there won't even be a mention of her in the magazine. "I don't think," Min joked, "we even mention the city of Paris." http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070627/ap_en_ce/paris_hilton_ban That was no easy task, she said, adding US Weekly editors had to comb carefully through every beauty story and every fashion item to make sure there wasn't an offhand mention of the hotel heiress somewhere. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070627/ap_en_ce/paris_hilton_ban

It's about freaking time the media is starting somewhere. Nothing is more aggravating than hearing about a spoiled rotten rich kid on the news every second of the day. I don't give a crap what she is heir to, people go to jail all the time, and aren't even given news coverage, maybe if it was really bad, but in general none is given. I hope it does make some sort of difference. maybe it will give the other media groups a clue that the the general public (besides a select few of their fans) is getting fed up about hearing about stuff they really don't care about. I don't know how many times I may have missed actual real news, because of me changing the channel for not wanting to hear about Paris Hilton or some other celebrity the media might have been over coveraging at the time.

What a great point, Rose, I could also have missed some REAL new just trying to get away from all the celebrity crap.

Even my local news is getting bad at the constant celebrity coverage. There was an event which happened in my "neck of the woods" where a teenage girl had her feet severed when a ride at Six Flaggs Kentucky malfunctioned and a cable broke. This happened June 21st and I didn't know about it until yesterday when a friend of mine sent me a link to the news story, and a place where you could leave your prayers and get well wishes to the teenage girl. Now granted, I don't like hearing of those sort of stories either, but at least it gets away from all the celebrity hype and nonsense.

It's about freaking time. I am so tired of hearing about her and just about every other actor/actress in the world. Frankly their lives aren't important to me and I could care less who's fighting with who and who decied to break up. Oh and if I have to hear about Brad and Angelina Jolie one more damn time I'm gonna smack someone. Frankly if they weren't famous no one would care if they were fighting or if they had another kid or if she decied to lose weight. We give these people way to much spot light for no real reason. Its time to give the real news some coverage again.

Angelina would interest me if she got liposuction on her lips (she looks like a fish). Maybe when Brad gets fed up with her he wets her lips and sticks her to a glass door using her lips as suction cups !!LOL

Paris Hilton Vs. Martha Steward, they both have money so She will go on with her life just like Martha Steward did. But I can say this, The time she had in jail gave her time to think about alot of these, and so she is going to do alot of nices things. like open up a day care. and a few other good this. She paid her debt to society, now she must move on, and it won't be a promblem for her to do that. Have a good day!

What will we do without the tragic story of how rough it was in jail for Paris Hilton. Does US Weekly not understand that we all live for to hear about Paris Hilton. I normally watch the news most of the time but I had to turn off my television because all they could seem to talk about was Paris leaving the jail and walking out like she was on a runway in to her mothers arms. How did they want her to walk? Or did they want her to crawl? I don't know and I don't really care. I just want them to talk about something that really matters.

I wonder what would happen to all the gossip and entertainment magazines if they all suddenly realized that Paris is not news, she is just pathetic? I am particularly impressed by the efforts they put forth to guarantee that they were not mentioning her in any obscure way, either. It sounds as if they are totally burned out on Paris. It would be interesting to know if they feel that their circulation for the upcoming issue suffers for this deliberate omission of a "star". She surely would not acknowledge that she was snubbed.

It's about time only real celebrities are put into the papers, this person (I assume it's a person and not an Hotel) is a complete nonentity and there is no way I would ever want to read about he/she/it!! Let's only have real people in the press, and not give publicity to others.

If the general public weren't so interested in her, then maybe the media wouldn't be either, but that's not the case. Chances are her appearance on Larry King tonight will garner him very high ratings. If the judge was thinking that he was teaching her some sort of lesson, it clearly backfired. She's more popular than ever and will probably come out looking like Mother Theresa to her adoring fans.

One thing I have noticed that in all of the discussion regarding "Parasite" (dont you just love that) Hilton she does not seen to have very many fans on myLot as I have not seen anyone stick up for her.

Yet here we are talking about her again. And US Weekly gets coverage for not giving her coverage. Hmm. Seems she won't be so easily ignored.

That is a really bold move I must say. News channels were cutting all programming to just broadcast the paris hilton saga as if there are no other serious matters to report about. This is really sad as the all the media houses have sank to this tabloid style journalism. This is very sad because now there is almost no way of getting the real news out there.

This is the best news ever! finally, someone understands that we don't need this type of stories anymore. Brats are brats through and through, no need to give them attention since that's their sole purpose in life. Thank you Janice Min for sticking up to how journalism should be. ;)

Anybody that relys on the media to define who they are is in big trouble. The media will dump you faster than you could ever imagine. Any person who gets caught up in their own publicity is in big trouble.

I was pretty amazed at the minimal amount of press she got when she got out too. I thought it was just "my area" but thank GOD it's not! LOL

Hi Whiteheather39, its about time somebody takes a stand like this. The press in general spends so much time on thse kinds of fluf articles that its getting harder every day to gind the real news. Take care, Terry

Thank God!! If I hear the name Paris Hilton one more time, I swear to God someone's gonna get hurt!! I would love to see everyone in the media do what the msnbc reporter did...kudos to them!! There is no reason for PH to be getting any media coverage at all. She makes me sick!

I loved the fact that Barbara Walters didn't want to do that interview with her. I think it shows she doesn't just take on celebrities that will get her front page exposure.
