I noticed yesterday when I got into my van that all the zippers where open on my purse..At first I was like, "why would all the zippers be open?" I started looking and found my wallet open and the change compartment unzipped..This was unusual...I never leave my wallet unfolded, I always snap it shut. Then I was looking for my sunglasses and I found them on the floor next to my seat and a few other things were strewn around... Then it hit me....Someone was looking for money...Luckily my drivers license, military ID card, bank card, and everything else was still there. Even my checkbook was there and no checks had been taken.. I think it was the person who lives next door with my neighbor..When he mowed the lawn he would have come into close view of what was in my van. I can't be for certain but he is someone who has been in jail and my neighbor that is letting him live with him had put a door on his own bedroom with a deadbolt to make sure this person couldn't get in.... Not someone I would want living with me!!! Thank Goodness nothing was stolen and I do not leave my purse in my van any longer....I know, it was stupid on my part....Does anyone have any similiar stories? Hopefully you were all as lucky as I was....

People are so daring! I would of been afraid of getting caught. You're very lucky that he didn't take your checkbook and other important items. I haven't dealt with anything like this, but it's funny you started this discussion. Yesterday morning my partner was telling me a story from work (he works in a factory, it's a new job for him). The secretary would leave her purse under her desk in the office. Someone got in there and took $300 in cash and left everything else. She thinks it may of been the janitor. I'm sure she'll be leaving her purse locked up somewhere from now on.

I spoke with my partner and he mentioned that she had just taken cash from the vending machines. Why that money would be in her purse, I don't know. Maybe she makes the bank deposits? I know she's the one who does the payroll. With this bit of info, I'm thinking none of the cash was hers. I sure wish I would of known this before telling my story. It helps to have all the facts. LOL Have a glorious day.

Why in the heck would someone have that much cash on them?...The most I have in my pants pocket is like 5 bucks...I am sure she won't be leaving it out again...

I don't have a story like your's but while shopping in the stores especially wal-mart I see so many women just leaving their purse wide open so that any one could slip their hand in there and just grab any thing as they walk by. It wouldn't take any thing to grab a wallet and keep going on by the woman wouldn'rt even be ablt to identafy the person that took it bacause they are consintrating on their purchases.

I too want to say something but like you I don't. I did once and the person looked at me like I was going to take something from her purse. I also carry my debit card in my pocket.

I have seen that also and I just cringe at the thought of someone taking their wallet..I often want to say something to them but I don't..I never take a purse in the store. My hubby carries our debit card in his wallet and that is what we use to purchase things.

Yes i've had that happen but money was actually taken a little over 100.-- Someone needed money i guess.. It's sad though how people can just take it mainly when i worked for it.. It was money for my gas bill well that bill wasn't paid that month.. some people some nerve huh!

Only thing close to yours was I left my purse behind the bar where my father in law worked as I was helping him serve his customers when I left I forgot it thankfully he found it and brought it home for I had all or money in it for we were moving from one job to another had over !,0004 in it. Never let it out of my site again and Never ever left anything in cars that someone would want to steal and we always lock the doors I still do even with a car aprked behind me and no one can get it out.

Aargh sorry to hear about that my friend. Now you know not to leave your purse in the car (even if the doors are locked). I usually lock my in the boot if I don't want to take it with me. I hate the feeling of someone else going through my personal things and noseing about even if they didn't take anything ... scares me to even think of it!

Fortunately I didn't have anything of real value. I only have my wallet which has my drivers license and my military ID in it...I never have money in it..and it was very rare that my checkbook was in there. I always leave it at home and just use my debit card that my hubby carries in his wallet....I feel the same way...

You are lucky and I am lucky too. It happened to me a few days before. I think I can say "we are lucky" only because not everyone is lucky whenever.

I was lucky...I don't leave it in there anymore. I used to shove it under the seat so no one could see it. I thought I had locked the doors but I guess I hadn't.

That is why I seldom carry any cash and I charge or use my debit card. I also keep a close eye on my purse. I hope you did not have any money in your purse. You have to be very careful and possibly the only reason nothing was stolen was because there would have been trouble or he would have been the prime suspect. Mind you, we have had stuff taken from our garage, including a lawn mower, a weed wracker, etc. So somewhere in my city, some guys with masks on and baseball hats are mowing their lawn and wracking their weeds with our equipment.

I never put cash in my purse. It is always in my pocket if I do have any..I never carry large amounts of cash at all..He didn't find any cash in my purse or my van..I only charge with my debit card and my husband carries that in his wallet..The most he would have gotten was my drivers license and my military ID card which would have been of no use to him...How sad that people have to steal...

This is one of the reasons I seldom carry a purse. I have had it happen in the past and had enough of that.

I just started carrying one..I usually just leave it in the van just incase I have to drive and that way my license will be in there. I never carry it with me in the store or anything..
