Christmas trees

Where I live they are already putting up the Christmas displays. It's my favorite time of the year. It got me to thinking about Christmas trees, I just love a real tree. I think it's the Fraizer Fir that I love so much, it doesn't shed needles all in the carpet and looks so pretty and lasts for quite a while. But they are exspensive so I usually end up with an artificial tree. Last year I bought several on clearance, with my grown, married children in mind. I knew at some point someone would need an extra tree, we sort of tree swap some years. Do you like an artificial Christmas tree or a real one? I'd love to know how others decorate for the season.

I do not like the idea of cutting down all those christmas trees so I have a fake tree. I do miss the smell thou. I put my tree up and it came with lights already attached I love it. I have used it one year and will continue to use it for years on. I have always done the christmas tree thing without help except to put it in the stand. My kids never did like to decorate the tree and my husband did not like it either. So now I can do it myself without spending extra money and I do it while he is at work.

My mom already setup the christmas tree last September 1 :) She says that its already the "ber" month. Every year, you can expect the christmas tree as early as September 1. Here is the Philippines, they say that we celebrate the Christmas the longer time.

WOW..that's the earliest I've ever heard of . I put mine up around the 10-15th of December. In my mind, when it's earlier than that, it spoils it, it's not special anymore.

For inside the house I use an artificial tree, outside I have two pine trees planted so I can have my real trees to without having to clean up the mess of pine needles off the floor throughout the month and after we take the tree out of the house. Plus I don't like killing a tree just for the sake of decorating it, than throwing it away, since we don't have a fire place.

I have a tree outside, of the cedar variety, that was given to me a few years ago as a gift for Christmas, it has really grown and I think it will be pretty to decorate it with lights this year. I used to have a tree or two in Florida that for years I would decorate it outside with lights, and not have to worry about cutting it down or it making a mess inside. Thanks for sharing with me.

Wow! September? That is very early to put up a Christmas display. I know some shops begin playing Christmas tunes at this time of the year. There is even a shop in my local town that does nothing but sell Christmas stuff all year. I like to see a large real tree all nicely decorated and lit up in town. But at home I prefer the small artificial tree that I use year after year. I place it on a table so my dogs don't knock it over. I like to display Christmas cards and pieces of tinsel around my lounge. Most of all I like to make Christmas cards and decorations with children. I am a teacher you see. They have great imagination and I so enjoy seeing how happy they are at Christmas time.

I think our family had an artificial tree just once...this was when I was very young--and I think the common consensus was that we hated it...so there after always got a real one. I live alone now, but I still insist on a real tree, or make that trees...I get one large one for the living room, then a little "baby" one for the bedroom...That was a tradition I only started about six years ago..that is to have a tree in the bedroom as well. Six years ago, I had already gotten the tree for the living room, and then I thought, and don't laugh, that maybe I should get a little tree for the cats...yup, I decided to get a tree just for them.. Well, I went back to the guys that sold the trees and they only had about four left! And it was a day before Christmas eve. So as I approached them, they said, hey, you want a free tree? My mouth dropped..these last few trees weren't exactly small, just as big as the living room one I already had---so said, sure. I was so happy to think about getting another large tree, one that would have cost maybe $40 for free. Then I get it home, and I'm like...duh? Where the heck am I going to put this thing--It would have looked dumb to have another tree in the living room...then the thought struck...hey the bedroom...It meant moving a lot of stuff around to make room, but OH!!! It was SO wonderful to wake up to my own private tree! So there after, I always get two trees..I just love the smell of the pine and makes me feel like for awhile at least, I have my own little forest indoors--and I never decorate the trees right away..I like them au natural for awhile

Oh, I loved reading about your trees. I too put up a small one in the bedroom, I put mostly lights on it so I can watch the lights while I watch tv in my room. It makes a great night light too. I have several fake trees of all sizes this year and even one my mom found on clearance last year for the front porch, so I'm excited to see what they will look like. I think I will have to get more lights and decorations, I had gone through them all the last couple of years and threw out a lot of things I no longer used, now I wish I had of kept some of them. Thanks for sharing with my Pye.

We can't have a live tree in our building, so we have a small artificial tree. I doubt we will set up a tree this year; we are so busy around the holidays that we are rarely home.

I would love to have a real tree but I am somewhat allergic to them. But every once in awhile, we will get one. I just sniffle around alot. Most of the time I use the artificial one.

I like real trees very much. We have had two real trees possibly in my lifetime. Once you buy the artificial trees, you have them and use them. We now use the artificial trees.

I like both but have an artifical tree because I'm so fearful of a fire. I've already been through five fires and one almost in my lifetime and am very causious in not having another one. However I love the smell of a live tree in the house for it makes the house smell so good. Some people I know still get live trees so that's how I know about the smells.

of course, a real one is better, but u know in China, more and more people will celebrate Christmas day,but no one have really use a real one, because they couldn't get it in China, so u can see a lot of artificial christams tree in family or the shops.

We always use an artificial tree, a big one. Although the novelty of a reral tree might be nice, they are expensive & don't last. My kids love our Christmas tree & the fun of decorating. I have noticed a few christmas decorations up already in the shops.

Christmas Trees - Christmas tree
I work in a store and already the Christmas stuff is going up and right across from the Halloween! lol....I love the Fir Chrismas trees because your right...they don't shed needles as bad as the others do. I think this year I'm going to put an artificial one though.
