Have you ever been sooooo tired that deep thought was a temporary enemy?

Have you ever been so mentally exhausted that all you want to do is mundane, idle, busy-work that involves little to no thought? That's where I am right now...on the edge of complete burnout. I'm only doing easy things right now, like surfing, checking my email, clicking necessary links, answering discussions, etc. Television is extremely tempting, though I have no clue what is even on TV on Sundays at 7:30pm, lol. What do you do when you are mentally drained?

When I am mentally drained I want to get into a good book and escape for awhile.

Sounds good to me. Wish I had one handy that I haven't already read 100x. Ah, humor at 2 am, ain't it grand? Anyway, what do you read? I read King, Moore, Rice, Barker, and Koontz mostly, but I'm open to other authors as well.

When I'm physically drained I go and play or stroke the cats, because this is proved to be very therapeutic and relaxing! We have four cats so there is usually one around, the youngest is the most playful and I usually give her plenty of attention. If it's really warm outside I will go outside and lie out in the sun to reenergize me!

If there weren't so many freaks and weirdos in my neighborhood, sunning would be a great stress reliever for me. I'm so tired of being pasty and I haven't had time for tanning in over 2 years, lol. Give your cat some love for me, I'm petless until we have a bigger yard and the time needed to potty-train and just be there for the pets in general...kinda still not completely over the loss of my dog yet. Sounds great, tho, sunning I mean. Get some for me too, will ya?

Sounds like great advice. I've never been brave enough to try yoga, I'm not all that flexible, lol. I have tried meditation, but my mind tends to wander. Do you have any tips that will help me to stay focused? Thank you in advance.

I thought that today I would go to church then come home and get some housework done and do some more writing for my new book. I haven't done too much work on it the last few weeks. I work 12 hours a day, 4 days a week as a home care provider. By the time I get home at 8:00 I don't feel like doing much. On my days off it seems I have so many errands. And then my 3 year old granddaughter wants to play with me all day when I'm home. Today was the first time I had off that I was going to be home alone. I did get afew dishes done. And I wrote a little for the book. But most of the time I just stared at the words. I just want to curl up and sleep.

Sleep sounds good. Playing with the granddaughter sounds like fun. Mine is too little to play. Barely over 2 months old. Thank you for stopping by.

I just stop, sometimes I am so mentally drained that I can't do anything , I just can't. I stop and rest, sometimes I don't even sleep for a couple hours, I just remain on a chair, resting.

It's ok, I'm busy counting laundry in my fairly new job in the hotel...so instead of counting sheep when I get back to sleep I'll be counting bed sheets and pillow cases, just to get a good nights kip... ...can't complain though I get free dinners there...so I save some cash for whatever... As for sick pics for profile pages....tee hee...I've found some great ones...just have to upload them...tee hee!!

I'm completely wiped out today. I'm bout tempted to take a nap after dinner, which I had probably better go make before I fall asleep on this keyboard. Sheets and pillowcases sound wonderfully comfortable...more comfortable than sheep, wool itches me, lol.

Well, I'd be outright lying if I didn't admit to being a bit on the insane side, now wouldn't I? hahahaha Braindead here lately, the profs are trying to kill me and what's left of my business! OY! Sorry it took me so long to get back to you...and sorry I haven't found anything sick enough to post on your space lately, lol.

Yes, I've known this degree of tiredness. I've known physical exhaustion so intense that the smallest tasks are too much. At those times, I do much the same as you: I surf and read things online. For me, a possible solution is music. I will buy an album I've never heard, or not in a long time. The thrill of new music can invigorate me. If not, I'm really in trouble, because for me, extreme lassitude can last for weeks, even months. Luckily, I'm not in that place right now. I have enough energy, although I could always do with more. Good luck!

Thanks, Carl. I'm glad you're not in that place either. Been there & it stinks. I'm cutting myself off in 30 minutes and going to bed, like it or not. I've got to start sleeping more, seriously. I often do listen to music while I am on and hanging out here (and various other places). I like my playlists. Once I get bored with them, I make another. I can't burn any of it, but who needs a stereo when the pc is hooked up like a stereo (not kidding, got a subwoofer and house speakers hooked up to this baby). Matter of fact, I think I'll turn the speakers on and open my favorite playlist. Good idea, glad you brought it up, lol.

I've been mentally exhausted for the past 3 or 4 months now. I've been looking for a better paying job, but i'm so busy with my other one that it just feels like i'm lost. stress & extreme anxiety has not been helping. I did go see a doctor and got some medication that helps a little.

I hope you get feeling better and that your medicine continues to help some. I ended up bumming some sleeping pills from my mom to help me out Friday night. Over-tired, over-stressed (and p.o.'ed), couldn't sleep. Thinking of seeing a doctor myself, no insurance, so I didn't want to waste 60 bucks until I knew for sure sleep medicine would help. Pretty wicked-cool avatar ya got there, Chris. Take care & keep in touch, Shannon

I have been there lately lol. I try to find something to get me exicted. I take a walk or work on a hobby. Get into a fight with hubby works lol. Drives him nuts. I find something new to surf on the net. But my favorite is to grab a trashy romance and lose myself in it for awhile.

I hear ya, squabbles with the hubs get me pumping too, lol. I also like reading, but I'm out of books to read right now, and I'd hate to waste time going into town to the library only to not get the book finished in time due to homework. I'll probably be bumming another King or Moore novel from my mom soon if I get to "jonesing" for a story really bad, lol. Do you read Christopher Moore? Not really trashy romance, more like hilarious macabre, but very entertaining. I just finished the Vampire Chronicles I (Anne Rice) for the 3rd time recently. Wish I could find my copy of The Mummy (also Rice), I haven't read that in years and could probably read the whole thing on a "lazy" day, if I ever see another one of those days, that is. Welcome to myLot, vudu_queen. Pleased to make your acquaintance. Ciao4now, Shannon
