My kids don't like whole wheat bread. I try to give it to them all the time but I hear groans no matter what I put on it. I don't mind whole wheat bread except when I make grilled cheese (I always burn it). What do you prefer?

I like whole wheat bread, but I ate white bread as a kid. Have you tried to give your kids white wheat bread? It's wheat bread that is white, so it has all the benefits of wheat but the look, taste and texture of white.

Yeah we do use that, but I do sometimes like the taste of the bits and stuff in the darker bread too. Isn't it funny how they don't mind it just by color? HEHE

It is funny! Kids are so easy to trick. When my sis and I were little, my mom would cook rice and brocolli with cheese, but we wouldn't eat brocolli. No problem for my mom, she renamed the dish rice and cheese and we ate every bite, not even questioning the green "trees"!

LOL Actually the other day I had raw cauliflower chopped up with dip on the table for anyone who wanted some, but I also cooked some in the spaghetti sauce. My son looked at the chopped ones and said he hated them, but when I "wasn't sure" what the other kind was in the sauce he ate it and liked it. Afterwards I said it was the same stuff but cooked. Tricky, tricky! HEHE

Hi vicki, I really like white bread, but as most people know it isn't exactly the healthiest choice. Sooooo when I was in the grocery store the other day I saw a new loaf of Wonder which looks just like white bread, but has the goodness of whole wheat! I decided to pick it up and I'll give it a try soon! If it really looks like white, and tastes like whit, but is whole wheat who knows, you may be able to trick the kids hehe! Take Care hun! Your Friend, PurpleTeddyBear ;)

Is that the one in the dark blue packaging. We pick that up all the time but it is so much like white, I wonder if it is truly healthier? HEHE Thanks

I grew up on white, but when I was a teenager we started using whole wheat. I like whole wheat better (and it's better for you). My kids never had white at home, I always bought whole wheat so they'll eat either. They prefer whole wheat.

Have you tried the Wonder bread that's wheat bread but looks white? I always eat whole wheat bread. I eat it all the time for everything and I pretty much get any kind. I like whole wheat bagels too. But I'll also do plain white bread... I really have no preference at all.

You are the second person here to mention potato bread and I never heard of it before. I am going to keep my eyes open for it next time I am at the grocery store to try it. Thanks!

Our entire family prefers whole wheat over white. We use it for grilled cheese, too. You just have to watch it a little closer and not grill it quite as long as the white.

I enjoy whole wheat bread, but it has to be light on the calories. The one I buy has 40 calories per slice. This is great when you want a real sandwich. I have bought other types of bread that have 120+ calories per slice. I only use one slice of bread for the sandwich and it really feels like half a sandwich even though there are more calories. There are times when nothing beats white bread. Rustic breads are great. Warm them up and slather with butter, forget about the calories for just a slice or two.

Switching to wheat bread from white bread was not so easy but once we are into wheat bread, there is no other bread we get in our house. My daughter has always had wheat bread so she gives no trouble, i like white bread in certain kinds of sandwiches but simply do with the wheat bread.

healthwise, i prefer the whole wheat bread because it sustains my body to prevent me from becoming more hypertensive. since i was diagnosed to have hypertension, i was advised by my doctor to refrain from eating foods that might contribute further to my condition. whole wheat bread, i know, has fibers that would decrease my blood pressure. however, my family prefers the white bread because it is tastier than the whole wheat one. my grand kid hates the whole wheat and wants any tasty bread specially with mayonnaise spread.

I am just the opposite of your kids. I cannot stand yeasty white bread with no substance. The breads I prefer are dark ryes, pumpernickel, heavy German breads...12 grain...anything that is rich, heavy and packed with nutrients! For a grilled cheese I like regular whole wheat or rye...but the rest of the time it has to be heavy laden with lots of au natural healthy living bread. To each his/her own...right?

Hi vicki, I think most kids are like that, maybe afraid that it might be good for them LOL. I eat whole wheat bread most of the time, but have no problem with someone who prefers white. As for kids, I think I would let them have whatever they prefer. Blessings.

Actually my kids are pretty good with most other foods. In fact we were at a subway restaurant. We all ordered veggie and cheese subs. The kids picked out what they wanted on them and loaded up with all kinds of veggies. The lady behind us looked shocked as the other server was spooning in meatballs to her sub, no veggies. She asked me if they were going to eat all those veggies with a turned up nose. We sat down and they ate every last bit of it. So if they want a bit of white bread now and then its fine. They do eat very healthy most of the time. Thanks Pose123 for your response! :) Vicki

My partner and me both prefer dark and whole wheat bread, and only rarely buy any white once. For your kids, the longer they eat it - the more they'll start to like it, and do what is best for them and healthier, is my advice :) TheFortunes

I always put the things they don't like on their plate as long as its health. People are shocked that they love spinach broccoli and other foods typically not normally liked by kids around here. I agree that they do get used to things after a while. When other children come here they think our food is weird and sometimes turn up their noses but I think it is because they didn't grow up on it. Like they eat fish and are used to it, but we don't eat it and never got used to it. Though now we are vegetarians so that wouldn't matter but... HEHE

Potato bread I never even heard of that one. Is it good? If we had to get just one type here, it would have to be white.

I used to be a sucker of white bread. But lately I had to avoid it because I noticed that whenever I eat it my acid goes up. I can deal with white bread as long as it is toasted. Whole wheat or brown bread does not aggravate my acidity though so now I have learned to love it. Now my gusto goes with brown bread as they are tastier than the white ones. Although I didn't prefer brown bread for health's sake but my fussy digestive system says so.

I alternate between the two. I do find whole wheat a bit better, especially for toasting and picnics.

When I still lived in my own country, it's hard to find the whole wheat bread. Mostly they only sell white bread. But now I'm living in Europe there are so many choices of wheat bread. My children would not matter what kind of bread that they eat, they just like to eat bread. But for me I prefer to eat white even I know it's not the good one. But I'm already used to it.

personally, i don't really mind which ever, but i guess i do like white better than whole wheat because of taste, however i do hear that whole wheat is good for you. and i have been eating whole wheat a lot now and think im used to it so it doesn't taste too much different anymore.
