I have 2 male cats they are brothers from 2 diffrent litters. The oldest is a year old and the baby maybe 10mos old. Anyway they are both very good mousers. And the other night I could tell they had a mouse cause I could hear them play with it. So I told my hubby to let them play with it for a few minutes then take it and throw it away. Well when he went to get it he said there was no mouse. I told him there has to be and to look around for it. He could not find it so I got up to help look. OK what I saw made me throw up. The baby kitten (named Baby also) was litterly eating the mouse I mean chewing and eating the baby mouse. I just didnt think cats ate the mice after they caught them. And if that was not bad enough after I made Baby spit it out Fuzzy ran up and started to eat it. My cats are feed daily so why would they eat this little baby mouse?

That's so funny; it is perfectly normal for cats to eat mice or birds they catch. Dogs to will occasionally catch mice and eat them. all the best urban

We have dogs that love to chase mice just as much as cats. One dog all you have to do is say, "Buddy go get the mouse!" and he takes off running around the house looking for one.

I think it depends on the cat. Some like to catch mice and birds and eat them. For others the hunt is the important thing. Not being an expert I could only guess that it may be genetic. I've had cats that did both.

All I know is I hope I never see that again for the rest of my natural life. I litterly threw up over that.

Yup, I hear that. Years ago a neighbor's cat always liked to bring me a "present". Then she would proceed to eat it. Yuck!

I've caught our kittens eating a chipmunk before so I'd say lots of cats actually eat the critters they catch. The dog eats the birds though, the cats don't like to mess with the feathers. lol

It's called survial and mother nature. Cats, well most cats anyways, will catch and eat mice and birds along with lizards and bugs.

This all 100% natural. I have had numerous cats over the years and even had barn cats that I had adopted ( they stayed at the farm but they were mine when I was there). Cats eat what they catch if the mother trained them how, most cats will capture this from the small bug all the way up to rabbits. This is their natural behaviour they are still Carnivores, this is mother nature showing you who is still boss. LOL If they capture something again I say let them eat it, not a single one of my cats ever got sick from, it is the right reward for them doing their job. If you do not want this to happen again make sure you always take it away as soon as you know they have or they will get fat from eating the wee things LOL.

Be thankful that you have a normal cat.....my husbands cat is so spoiled and prissy, she would have someone call an exterminator to "take care of it"

Yes that is very normal. Cats are predators, even if they are domesticated. It's instinct. You'd be suprised just how many pet cats do actually kill mice, birds, lizards etc & eat them when let outside. It's totally natural. How do you think most stary cats survive?

Life I hate to tell you this but it is very natural for cats to eat what they catch. Often they like to play or torture the victim before dispensing with it. It is the nature of the animal. It is the way that cats survive in the wild. It really doesn’t matter that they are well fed. It is part of their nature.

Cats are like that. Sometimes they catch there pray and kill it then leave it. Other times they will eat it. It has nothing to do with weather they are fed enough or not. Its part of a cats instinct. Just something they do.

Of course Cats eat Mice. How do you think they survive in the wild? Its very natural and normal, and its the source of their food supply.Farmers keep cats around the barn to keep the rats and mice from destroying the animal feed. You should study up on your cats life style! Get a book and read about it. Cats are natural predators, and they wll eat a mouse even if they are not hungry.

Hi Lifez2short! Ew, that is gross. But it is really true, although I haven't witnessed anything like it before. It is in their nature to do so. Although they are fed with cat food, they still have that basic instinct in them, I guess. Take care and have a nice day. :)

...One of my cats would only eat the head. I kept finding mice butts all over! ...What they will not eat, at least more than once, are frogs and moles. There is something in the skin that will make a cat sick if they eat them. ...Peace be with you. =(^;^)= Della

I had a cat that would chase down and kill and eat mice, birds, and even rabbits. He would kill just about anything he could get his paws on. Rusty liked to bring then all to me headless and half eaten as some sort of present or something. he was a strange cat cause he would go out and murder anything he could catch and then come back in the house and want to cuddle with you. He really was a wimp at heart.

come on you have cats and you don't know this that they love to eat it. Its a treat for them. Do not watch when they do so though as its actually quite gross but its their natural instinct and just because you have tamed them do not make them curb their natural nature.

I also have 2 cats. I saw them eating a mouse. At first, I almost throw up seeing them eat a mouse but my father told my that cats really eat mouse. The first time that I saw my other eat a mouse was so gross because the mouse was already in his mouth and all I could see was the tail of the mouse. I tried to stop him but it was too late. It took days before I touched my cat because everytime that I see him, I remember the time that he was eating the mouse.
