Is there a novel you want to see made into a film?

Or do you not like novel-based films, because the books are always better?

I do think the books are usually better, but I still like to see the books come to life on screen if they're done well. One book I'd like to see is a Sherlock Holmes' book, called The Beekeeper's Apprentice. It's by Laurie R. King.

I would like to see "The Coldest Winter Ever" by Sistah Soldjah made into a movie. I loved that book, and I did hear some rumors that it would be. However that was a while ago and I haven't heard anything in months. I do agree that the book is always better than the movie though. A couple of examples are Waiting to Exhale and Disappearing Acts, both by Terry McMillan. I loved both movies, but if you read the book there was so much stuff left out, especially Disappearing Acts because it was on TV. I would have really liked to see Bernie trip out on the Xanax in Waiting to Exhale. Another good example is How Stella got her Groove back. The movie starts in the middle of the book. I only saw that movie a couple of times because the book is way better.

To be honest it depends on the film/story in question. With Harry Potter for example I found the books were far superior to the films because the book opens up your imagination, whereas the film lays it all out for you. I would love to see one of Martina Cole's novels made into a film. I love her books and they would be ideal for films.

Yes there are two novels which I want to be as a movie. The first one is angles and demons. It is a very nice novel and also I think it is nice plot is with a lot of places which is very nice from the movie point of view. If you read the novel then you will understand that if the movie is made it has a lot of emotions and also very nice places are being described at a lot of places so I think it will turn in to a very nice movie. Then the other one is five point someone, I have head that a movie is started to be directed and that is a very good news cause this is a novel which every college boy and girl would enjoy. It is just like we are there in the story and that is the best thing about the novel.

I think that Joe Hill's - Heart Shaped Box would make a really good movie. He's Stephen Kings son and since Stephen King can have his books made into movies, so can his son I think! I think that any of Jodi Picoult's books could do. I think most books could easily be turned into films because they're supposed to be all visual and stuff! If I can't see the book in my mind as a movie, I have a hard time reading the book.

I am a big Ed McBain fan. I have read a lot of his books. He has a series of 87th Precinct novels that date back to the 1940's I think. It was interesting to go back and read his older books and see the same characters but in earlier stages of their careers. I would love to see a tv series made from these books. He has hundreds of them. They wouldn't even have to write scripts. They could just use each book, though might be tough to squeeze into an hour. The characters are funny so it would be quite entertaining. As for your original question, I find movies don't do the books justice because they have to cut a lot out in order to fit it into the 2 hour allotment. But if one of my favourite actors is in it, I wouldn't mind seeing a book made into a movie. Once I've seen a movie first, though, I will not go and read the book.

I do think that most books are better than the movies. I'd have to say that's the case with every book I've read, and then seen the movie. There is a book, however, that I would love to see made into a movie. The book is called 'Swan Song', by Robert McCammon. I started a discussion about it in the 'reading' interest. That is probably the best book I've ever read. I read it the first time in 1987, then, I had thought about it so often over the last 17 years or so, I bought it off Amazon, and read it again. Just as good the second time around. I would definitely recommend it to anyone. I know several years ago, when they came out with 'Flowers in the Attic', I was so excited to see it. I had been reading books by V.C. Andrews for years prior to the release of the movie, and that was the first one I had read. OMG! The movie sucked!! I was VERY disappointed.
