My son and wife, and their 4 children age 7-13, came to visit for thanksgiving. They were here Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and most of Friday. They live in Shreveport and we live in Texas...a 12 hour drive for them. It was a wonderful visit, but the noise level was incredible! LOL. I am glad they got to come to see us, since it had been a year, but I am glad to get back to the piece and quiet. Did everyone have a good thanksgiving?

Ha ha you sound like me estherlou..I am always glad to see them come but after they leave its all nice and quite and it feels good...haha....I often wondered how i managed with raising 5 kids, they were always something going on , after they all married i missed that a lot, but then you get used to the peace and quite and you wonder how you ever did it...I know why raising children are for the young people..I love my children but i don't want anymore haha...

I always say having children is for the young...before they know what they are getting into! LOL. My husband and I have had the house to ourselves for about 14 years now, since the 2nd child moved out, so it's been nice and quiet. It is definitely a culture shock when the 4 grandkids come for a visit.

It is always nice to see family but two families cannot live in the same home for very long without clashing. LOL I love my family dearly but there is a time when everyone must go home. We had a wonderful Thanksgiving with our family too

Mine was ok. My husband and I hung out and ate food more or less. I had to work the day after Thanksgiving so that was kind of a bummer, but there was no traffic which was good for once!

I did have a good thanksgiving, but I did not have overnight visitors. I bet you are enjoying the peace and quiet now. It is always nice to see people you haven't seen for a long time, hopefully you all had a very good visit. Just take the day and chill out now.

I know you were looking forward to your son, his wife and their 4 children coming to you for Thanksgiving, but 4 kids running around can sure make a lot of noise! It would have been lovely to see them, but now they are gone, you can get back to the peace and quiet of having your home back to yourself! (Till next year anyway)!

I feel for you. We were invited by one of my daughters to go to Waco but my husband did not want to drive that far. All the kids and grandkids were here last year and since this townhouse is very small compared to the house we used to rent I felt trapped. We only had my son and stepdaughter with us this time. I guess I have come to the point in my life that while I enjoy seeing the family I really enjoy the peace and quiet without them. I dont know why but when my kids and their familys all get together it gets too loud for me. LOL. So for the most part ours was quiet and nice.

Glad you had your family there. We had a great, but different Thanksgiving this year. My oldest daughter and her husband drove up to see us, a 6 hour drive for them. My s/o picked up his daughter and they went over to see his mom, my son-in-law had dental work done a week ago, and his jaw was still sore, so it ended up being just me and my daughter at the table for dinner, but we made the best of it, laughed and talked about other family get togethers from years past. We're both from Texas, my parents, sister and youngest daughter still live there, I live in PA now and she lives in Virginia now. But I was glad they came, and really glad her husband could be with us, since he was in Iraq last year during the holidays.

You're lucky! As much as I love her I still have my granddaughter with me and can't wait for her to go home today...lol! I haven't been alone since Wed and I'm looking forward to it. Thanksgiving was wonderful but now I need to be alone for awhile!

Having house guests, no matter how much you love them, is always a little stressful I think. I'm glad that you get to enjoy your peace and quiet for the rest of the weekend! I did have a good Thanksgiving. I'm still pulled whether I enjoy the smaller gatherings, though. Last year we only had 6 of us and I think I enjoyed the holiday a little better. This year there were about 30 at my aunt's house.
