Christmas Tree

Australia

Have you put your Christmas Tree up? here in Australia, as I am sure is the case with many others around the world - we put up our trees on the first of December. My family hardly ever gets time to do this; so we put it up in the last minute! This year I'm going to Hawaii over most of december, so we won't even bother puttinbg up a tree! What sort of decorations do you put on your tree? Firstly, is it a real tree; or a fake one? I like putting on the lights and the tinsel - plus all the little decorations I made in primary and kindergarten. What do you enjoy about setting up your chirstmas tree? Looking forward to hearing your thoughts about this!

I never put my tree up until about the 12th of December, I think the 1st is a little bit early, I think it takes a little away from Christmas doing it too early, just my opinion but I must I love how a lot of people decorate the outside of their houses these days, they really go to a lot trouble and they do such a beautiful job.

I think, that the best think about putting up Xmas tree, is the pile of rubbish around. All the packaging and paperwraps. And also some damage on furniture, broken dishes, when tree falling from side to side, fired up fuses while trying lights. There is also much pleasure from outdoor Xmas lights, blinking for weeks before the DAY, so you are mostly fed-up with all this when Xmas finally arrived. Oh, what's a shame! Good to see you here.

Yes, we have put our Christmas tree. I am really into Christmas in a big way. We have an artificial tree but it does look nice. Each of the ornaments on our tree have a story behind it. It is nice to put the ornament on and think about the memories behind them.We have ornaments that our children made when they were small. They are both married now.

It's usually a fake tree, seeing as we can't usually afford a real one. We used to have alot of ornaments, beautiful, priceless things...which individuals from our entire family had made over the years. But we've had two housefires in the course of what is it? Four years now? So what we had is all gone. We just got new ornaments yesterday. Most of 'em wouldn't be my choice...quaint little wooden flimsy painted things, M&M's ornaments, a few other random things. I do like the orbs and the stars though. And we have garlands, lights, and a little tinsel. But yes, we just put the christmas tree up last night. It's the earliest we've ever put it up. We usually wait until the middle of December to do it...but we're just on a different time table this year.

I just put my Christmas tree last night. I was kind of nervous about it because I did all the trimming myself. I never really consider myself good at this sort of stuff, but I absolutely love my tree. It came out great. My boyfriend was home, but he is not a big holiday person. So while I was putting up the tree, he was doing the dishes and then made me some hot chocolate. So I still won out of it. :) My tree i a fake one that came with the lights already included. Putting up lights is hard, so I am glad this one came that way. I put a maroon and gold ribbon around it. Put up maroon and gold bows and red, gold and maroon glass balls.

I have a fake tree - I don't like real ones. Apart from the fact the pine needles are a pain, I think it's a bit of a shame to use them unless you can replant them afterwards I suppose. It's a big tree - about 8ft - but that's the only decorations I put up at Christmas. I hang loads of stuff on it, mostly traditional baubles and a few things my daughter made at school when she was small (she's an adult now) plus lights of course. I don't put tinsel on the tree because I can never get it to look right. I usually put the tree up around the first weekend in December so I guess that will be next weekend it's going up.

We haven't put our tree up yet. We are going to try to do it this weekend. We have to use a fake tree because I'm allergic to the real ones. And we only use purple and silver decorations on the our tree. We use lots of lights on it and we also put silver beads around it. I'll have to post a picture of our tree when we finally get it up. My mom has two trees and she put hers up this past weekend and they look really good.

Here in spain it's not traditional to put a christmas tree....as a catholic country, we usually put the mystery scene with Jesus, Mary, Joseph and the mule and the ox, even though in the last couple of decades trees are becoming more and more popular and nowadays many people put them, in many houses they put both things, and i think it's nice.

Last year we started a tradition of going to cut our Christmas tree down. I think it cost more but I like the smell of the real Christmas tree and I love taking the pictures of my daughter helping my husband cut it down. It will be something that she can look back at later and remember the memories of doing it. This weekend we are planning on going to cut it down. I hope its kind of cool so it can feel like Christmas I remember last year it was pretty hot I was wishing I wore shorts lol. Then it will be really fun to decorate this year b/c my daughter is old enough now to realize whats going on. Merry Christmas

We put up our tree on December 15 and take it down on New Year's Day, two weeks is long enough for it to be up for me. I have a fake one, unfortunately, because trying to find a nice real one that late in the season is almost impossible. The only ones left are the sickly looking Charlie Brown trees. There is no tinsel on the tree, the cat eats it.....and there are a billion decorations, including my daughters' Elvis ones and the beautiful ones that she made in her art classes. My son has lots of plane and train decorations that he puts on and I have my Calgary Flames (hockey team for those who don't know) that are always in the front center of the tree, haha!!

I usually do it on the first of December too but I am hoping to do it later this year. I get all in the spirit when we first put it up but then that excitement decreases in the weeks waiting for chirstmas. Many people here already have their outdoor decorations up and stuff but I want to hold out till I can't anymore. Three kids that will be begging. LOL

We don't have one yet. We were talking with my fiancee about it and I think we might wait till the middle of the december. It is still pretty soon to set it up and also we have heat on in apartman so needles would fall off soon. I am really looking forward to decorate my first christmas three with my fiancee. I am sure we will put lightnings and some glass decorations on it.

You know, I'm not entirely sure what the "correct" date is here in the U.S. for setting up the tree, but I know a lot of people do it the day after Thanksgiving, after all the shopping is done. They actually started some dumb new law here that prohibits us from putting them up too early or keeping them up too late!! So stupid!! You can actually get a fine for your tree or lights being up at the wrong time!! You can't even leave them up and unlit, like I know a lot of people used to do. I think this new law is what made a lot of people decide to wait a while before putting up all their decorations...cuz we used to see alot of them already!!!

Hi engineous. This year I think a very special presentation in my house for the Holy Merry Christmas, where I have plan for laser light Christmas Tree with the words panel, which can be program to change by time setting of viewing for each sentence. Very cheap because one of my offline friend going to help me, AS I have helped him for their in-house laser beam business. I have already gave her 10 customers, so for me I was given a special discount price for in-house Christmas laser tree. Happy Postings and Earnings, engineous. HAPPY DAPPY.

We have a fake tree, as our youngest has bad allergies from a real one in the house every day. He's fine when he's at a relatives house with a real tree, but after about a week with a real tree, his allergies get pretty severe. We'll be putting up our artificial later this week, probably on a night w/o any Xmas shows on TV. I remember when I was real young, my parents set up the tree after we went to bed on Christmas Eve and told us Santa brings the tree and decorates it before putting the presents under it. It was amazing to sneak out of bed early Christmas morning to finally see the tree and all the presents. I still remember sneaking in the living room just to see the tree.
