Mylot Discussions Becoming Redundant

Maybe it's just me, but it seems that the discussions lately are somewhat redundant. Honestly, sometimes it's like panning for gold trying to find a decent discussion that hasn't already been discussed to death. Many of us are "writers," so does anyone have a solution to this problem? How can we spice up the discussions?

I think when people are motivated by making money, they may tend to throw as many very general topics out there as possible to see what works. Maybe if someone has a giant friend list, doing the typical "how are you today?" might be relevant - but to those of us who like to surf around to find a good discussion, it may get old. The format really doesn't lend to long back and forth discussions but tends to be more Q&A format because so many people respond to individual comments perhaps. But maybe that's just me. I have had a few discussions I have started that I thought were too obscure - but I guess you win some, you lose some.

I haven't noticed redundant posts.I guess the best way to have fresh discussions is to try to think outside the box.

Since we live in so many different places, it would seem to me that if we can take something from our local world and share it, or give it a universal twist, it might be something new and fun for others. If our friends do the same, it will give us new things to look at as well. Yes, some days are harder than others when it comes to finding suitable discussions. I then look to unanswered discussions or to discussions linked at the bottom of the discussions I am answering in hopes of some new twists.

Well there are only so many things people can talk about. After a while things are going to repeat. Maybe start new discussions about things you have noticed no one talking about yet. Books or movies that haven't been brought up. I just started 3 new disuccions today that I did not see any other threads on.

Good, you're not the only one that's noticed this worldwise. I try to respond to all my friends discussions but I've noticed so many are having the same topics. Not to sound like a real ba-hum bug...but I'm getting up to here with the deluge of Christmas related discussions that are basically the same..and no offense to my friends there! I think there were at least ten discussions about "Black Friday" and the mad race to buy Christmas gifts that day...All I can say is, in all my life I've never been one of those who would go to a store at 4 in the morning on Black Friday to get the super duper bargains--heck I don't even do that much Christmas gift shopping or hassle through malls to begin with. If I happen to see something nice, even if its in a dollar store that strikes my fancy for a friend, and no I'm not a cheapsake, but I do have to set limits..but then I'll get it--but this whole shopping mania people go through at Christmas time is bonkers. Then to have to keep reading it is like enough already!

Having been able to read the myLot guidelines, whenever I think of a topic to start a new discussion, I try to search it first if the same or similar topic already exists. When it does, I just read through the discussion and post a response to it. But sometimes even after searching and not finding a similar discussion, after I've posted the new discussion, it's only then that I see a matching discussion. By then it's already too late.

It's really difficult to find decent discussions on here now. Some days I just have to admit defeat and give up. There was a time when I could easily spend a couple of hours responding but those days are gone I'm afraid. I suppose with the number of members now and also new members joining all the time, it's inevitable that subjects/discussions will be repeated, but really I just don't have anything more to say about abortion/spanking/homosexuality. I'm all talked out about these subjects I'm afraid. I'm also getting that way about immigration as that seems to be a big topic for US members at the moment. I just look through the "Top Discussions" and "Hot Topics" and all I see is topics like "how do I earn money on here", "does myLot actually pay or is it a scam", "what hand do you hold your toothbrush in" - I mean really, what can you possibly say to most of that stuff? I don't mind nonsense discussions sometimes. Everything does not have to be serious and "meaningful", but now and then something interesting would be nice!

I would truly love to spice things up, but I can't imagine people appreciating it and also it'll be deleted as quick as you can say lewd and rude! I have had great responses in mind when I reply to some fun discussions which are there, but well hidden, but I have looked them over and thought no, they won't be accepted, appreciated and it's a waste of time because I want to be cheeky and elaborate what I am really thinking, if you get my drift! I am sure I am not the only person who thinks this way.

"panning for gold" oh man if that doesnt describe it to a T i dont know what could! i can spend a couple hours on mylot everynight and still be lucky to find 5 discussions that i can come up with enough reasonable response ideas in order to make a paragraph! its incredibly frustrating and usually ends with me just giving up and moving on to a different site. as for ideas to spice up discussions? i havent a clue, except perhaps to have mylot kill discussions that are one-liners. that wont fix everything, but it would certainly help. course that would take a lot more moderator work from mylot.

There are lots of interests that aren't posted under that regularly we could revive rather than the big three all the time (life, people, and mylot) we all just post our discussions under these interests because we will get more responses anyway. Why don't we leave these interests to the people who write rubbish to make money and post under the less well known interests to make them a bit more high profile?

I guess users want it that way. I started a discussion about 3d stereoscopic movies, wich seems to be next big thing in hollywood, and there wasnt another discussion on the subject i found of. Noone has answered.
