Well as most know my wifes brother finally passed away Sunday evening after a battle with leukemia. I lost a great brother-in-law and friend in Tom. His memory will live forever in my heart and soul. Well it had not hit me intil I read the obituary in the Detroit Freepress online. I finally broke down. Here's the obit in todays paper in Detroit. I wish to tank each and every friend and member that has prayed and supported us in this ordeal. It was very hard but was made easier with all your guys prayers, thoughts, love and caring shown so many ways here on this community. Once again I wish to thank you all. http://www.detroitnewspapers.com/deathnotices/viewnotice.cf HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~ Rest in peace Tom. We love you buddy!

A good in-law often is better than a blood relation. I like to think that since we choose who we marry, we choose to be with their family as well. The link did not work when I tried it. I hope you and Debbie will be consolation to one another. I know you will miss him, and it is good that you can talk about it here. Keep on posting, it seems we are going step by step with you through this grieving process. Isn't it great to have those precious memories of Tom!

It is hard to lose a family member or friend. The only comforting thought is knowing that they are no longer suffering. I'll continue to keep your family in my prayers.

Hi GRANDPA BOB! I really don't know what to say to you my friend. I feel sad and at the same time, relieved that Tom's pain is over. Just like when my mom passed away because of bone cancer..I was so sad and depressed because I don't want to lose her but at the same time I am happy for her because she will know no pain anymore. I guess, we just comfort ourselves in knowing that one day, we will see them again. And in the meantime, the memories they shared so lovingly with us will be our strength to live our lives to the fullest in love and in friendship. Take care and my prayers for Tom and for all of your family.

I am afraid that the link didn't work for me. I will check other responses to see if it has been rewritten. It is okay that you broke down, in fact it is better that you did this. Its no good bottling it up & becoming more depressed. How is your wife handling it?

Oh My GOD! I thought he will be OK. I have heard your wife went there to be with his brother due to some bone marrow donation. it is very sad he has not survived. May his sole rest in peace.

In Memory of Tom MEMORIES There’s a silence in your life today, A place no one can share. A missing part Within your heart. For one, that was so rare. Where memories now must fill the gap For the voice you’ll never hear A soft refrain, Will now remain Just an echo in your ears. There’s sometimes disagreements, Between the people that we love. But time can heal No one can steal Great lessons from above. So when it’s time to say goodbye There is no easy way. Forgive, forget, Shrug off regret For there’s nothing left to say. There’s a silence in your life today A place no one can share. But they’re in your heart, That missing part. Great love is still so rare. Jill Holmes

I feel your pain. I lost my youngest uncle this year. It's difficult to realize that they are gone and we miss them instantly. All I can say is like me or anyone else who has suffered a loss like this, we can always remember the good times, bear the hard pangs of loss that creep up out of nowhere, and always keep in mind that our loved ones are no longer suffering and are at peace. Also there's the tought that someday we will see them again. (((HUGS)))

No words can express...at least none that I can come up with. I know you've been through a lot over this but you didn't crumble or derail. Debbie is a really lucky woman to have you there for her through all of this and I'm sure Tom left this world feeling all of the love and caring pouring out to him. Sometimes when we pray for a person to get well we hope that will mean being well here but sometimes that isn't how it works out. Tom IS well again but in a place where he'll never be sick again...and that is a really good thing, even if it is sad.

Dear Grandpa Bob, It is always hard to lose someone very dear to you, someone very close to your heart. I pray that god gives you the strength to get through this and you know that Tom is in a better place. My condolences to your family, and especially to wife. It must be hard for her to lose her own brother. Stay Strong. Much Love
