I enjoyed traveling round Europe. The best place I went to was Cesky Kromlov in the Czech Republic. I liked seeing the superb medieval square, the stunning looking castle and the old Chinese tower. I had such a fun time kayaking the river past exciting mini rapids. Other places I really liked Dubrovnik for its gorgeous coastal setting, Salzburg for its lovely architecture and Lisbon for its narrow historical streets. Where did you enjoy visiting in Europe and why? Thanks.

When I visited Czech Republic it was still under Communist rule, and citizens had a curfew, and restricted movements. However we had a great time and the people were fantastic. I really enjoyed my time in Lisbon and Crete. Memories of forty years ago sparked again by your post. Thanks Maximax.

Travel is so fifferent today with the EU, the fall and break-up of Communist Russia, and many other changes that have occured since my world trip in 1966. I doubt if I'll ever visit Europe again, but there is still hope. Merry Christmas.

Yes, prices were so cheap in the late 80s and early 90's. Many places like Prague became much more popular with tourists. Since then more and more countries have joined the EU. I think that has made travel more expensive. I went to Bulgaria and Romania last year and knew they were just about to join the EU. If you do visit Europe again one day I hope that you will have a lovely time but so much will have changed.

I am glad that my post has sparked off happy memories for you. I went to Hungary the year before communist rule ended and it was interesting. Going to the Czech Republic much before that time with such a different way of life must have been fascinating. Greece is full of pleasant islands. I have heard some lovely things about Crete. Lisbon is such a gorgeous city.

I am a Chinese man,I do not have the chance to travel in Europe, but I yearn for travelling in Europe all the time. Europe is my sweet dream. I like many things about Europe. The ancient Greek myths, the medieval castles, the famous art museum in Paris... All of them fascinate me a lot. How I long for a trip to Europe!

One day it might be possible for you to travel to Hong Kong and then you could get a cheap flight to London. you could travel around Europe using a train pass and to save on costs you could stay in youth hostels or camp in tent. Yes, the castles in Germany look magical. Good luck in achieving your dream to travel to Europe.

Wow you certainly have travelled my friend! Travelling is great it broadens your outlook on life and gives you so much experience of other people's language, culture. I loved Berlin with all that dramatic history contained inside. I also loved Prague because of the architecture and the trams. I love Amsterdam because of the fun and relaxed feel about the place where you can be who you want to be.

I like to ride on trams. It can be so much fun. I have ridden on trams in Lisbon, Prague, Budapest, Amsterdam, Adelaide, Melbourne and San Francisco. I would really like to visit Berlin one day. One of my German friends has a cousin that lives there. He didn't get to meet him until the wall came down. I think that the architecture in Europe is superb. I agree that travel is a great thing to do. It has increased my patience, understanding, knowledge of the world and respect for people all over the world. It is so interesting to hear other languages, we are lucky to have Europe on our door step.

I didn't visit Czech Republic when I was in Europe. I got right to the border though. I wass in Hungary at the time, for 6 weeks, I I visited Estergom, an interesting city in Hungary. This is right on the border & I could see Czecholovakia over the river. I loved Hungary, especially Budapest with it's many historical buildings.

Yes, Budapest is a beautiful city. I so loved going there and treating myself to trips to see the ballet. The prices in 1990 were incredibly low and it was interesting to stay in a private home with a Hungarian family. It is interesting to be close to an international border sometimes. It is lovely to look over into the other country. I took a train from Poland hoping to go to Prague but the train split in the middle of the night and half of it went to Vienna. The language barrier meant that there was much confusion. I had even more of a problem with language difficulties in Bulgaria attempting to book a train to Romania. The train only had beds so I had to have for my journey that would just be in the day!

It's great to hear that people like you travel and enjoy a lot. You are blessed for the opportunity to travel while there are people like me who wants to travel far and wide but due to financial constraints, cannot do it. I would like to travel anywhere!
