Ever have one of those little things in you head that just is so stupid, you can't believe you are even thinking about it, but quite compelling to thought? Here's one: If it is Coca Cola, why do we call it and write it Coke? SHoudn't it be Coca?

This is very interesting! It's my drink of choice and I didn't even realize that it came from a plant called Coke!

Good question. I have absolutely no clue. Maybe Coke is supposed to be short for Coca.

I have to say that Diet Coke (Coca) is my favorite drink in the world. A close second is iced tea. But, you are right, why coke? It's like my son's name is Jakob.......we call him Jake. I know others that call their Jacob's Jake and spell it that way, should'nt it be Jac (Jack)?

You're the mother - you get to say how it is spelt and how it is pronounced and you get to tell everyone that if they misprounce it! My son is Michael and my MIL used to annoy me to no end by calling him Mikie, or Little mike (his dad is mike) I kept telling her, "his name is Michael. Not Mikie, not Mike, not little mike... Michael. Please call him that." and of course she wouldn't! Then when he got old enough and understood what she was saying, he told her to call him Michael and of course.... she didn't!

LOL! So, if she is the mother and can say it and/or spell it the way she wants to... maybe? this is what the inventor or someone on the high-and-mighty list of Coca-Cola did... way back when.
