I used to be scared of them, but i live in a small town now and there are not many elevators around! lol. No tall buildings here.. I dont know if my fear has went away, or if i just dont have to face it anymore! How about you ? are you scared of those REALLY LONG elevator rides ? or could you care less ?

No, I've never been scared of elevators. I like the kind that go up on the outside of a building and has the glass walls so that you can look out. The highest elevator I ever took was either the Washington memorial (obelisk) or the space needle at Niagara Falls, it didn't bother me a bit.

I'm a little afraid I guess. I worry what would happen if it would ever get stuck. I'm a little afraid of enclosed places. I think if one would ever get stuck I would freak out. The elevator where I worked used to get stuck alot. I would always avoid it and take the other one that never broke down.

yea there was one elevator that worked better then the other in the highrise that i used to live in. I for sure used to wait for the good one to come down or else i would take the stairs, it was only 6 flights, and i dont mind the excersize.

Yes I am at times. About 13 years ago we went to hospital to pick up my cousin that just had a baby and the elevator got stuck for like 20 min (it felt like 20 hours to me) it took me a long time to get over it I would walk up the stairs refusing to get in a elevator. I still have a strange feeling when I go in one.

i bet, i have never been stuck in one, but i really dont like small spaces at all, so being stuck in an elevator would be one of the worst experiences!

I have a small fear of elevators, mainly because I start thinking about nothing holding me up except some cables once I get on them, and nothing but air beneath me... kinda creepy but I'll still use them.

Heck no. My son craps himself when we go on them, I recall the first time. Poor thing, he placed his foot on it and then jumpt back and tried to run away. My wife told him he had nothing to be scared of, I just picked him up and placed him on it and he smiled. (he still doesn't like 'em) ~Joey

I also used to be scared of them when i was younger. My parents used to go from elevators and i used to go from stairs.I used to get exhausted by the time i reach the top floor.Later with the passage of time I overcome my fear. Now a days i like elevators. Now i never go to those buildings which don't have elevators.

I am not scared of elevators. My department is in 15th floor and the office is in 11th floor. If there is not elevator, then I will be worried. The elevator's accident hardly happens in my opinion. But it does give us convenience and it can save the time.

Elevators don't seem frightening at all despite all the horrid stories I heard about them. Frankly ,I haven't been on one for 10 years, because I live on the first floor.I did however listen to the advice of a friend and climbed 10 floors just to get to an idiot that would pretend he is not home. Then I had to climb down 10 floors, now that's much more frightening hehe.

honestly speaking, i never have a bad experience riding an elevator before... so i'm not really scared of that... but if there is an escalator, i would prefer to use an escalator rather than an elevator... unless if it is really really a long ride... then i have no choice but to use the elevator...

I used to be scared...in fact I did not even know how to operate it! Was a simpleton then. But these days as I attend conferences in big hotels here and abroad, I have learned how to do it and get rid of the fear...otherwise I'll not survive it. But thankfully in our city, we don't have many elevators to be in, so until the next ride. There will always be first times, and looking back, for me it was crazy but fun...

Hi,there! I used to be very curious about the elevators when I was young but I was not afraid.Nowadays I need to take it every day.So maybe because it's very common for my daily life,I'm not scared about that.We see many accidents happen on TV or when we read the news.I think even if the equipments of the elevators are pretty good,we still should pay enough attention to it.Safety is the most important thing, isn't it? Thanks for you discussion and have a nice day^_^

I am not scared of elevators actually. I find them to be quite a thrill. I even find myself jumping up on the elevator when it is in the process of going up in the sky. They are jus fun to me. I remember there was this one time when it was me and my friends on one elevator. Abotu 10 of us crammed in this one small elevator. When it started to go up, the boys jumped, and the elevator got stuck. The girls in the group were panicing. It was quite a fun experience, and I believe that elevators can give other people fun experiences as well.
