My feet get so cold in the winter that I wear wool socks to sleep. Can't get to sleep with these icy feet. Do you wear socks to bed?

I used to always have this thing where it would take me forever to get to sleep without socks on my feet. My feet were always cold. Now that its summertime I don't have to wear them. I also like to let my feet breathe. If I curl my blankets around my feet then I don't have to sleep with socks on. Sometimes in the winter I'll turn my space heater on as well. I live in the basement so its cold. So it really depends on a lot of things.

I bet it is cold in the basement. I have found that a knitted afghan helps keep my feet warm in the winter in addition to socks. Thanks for responding.

That knitted afghan sounds great. I need to get me one of those! I have one of the those fuzzy blankets and its pretty warm. I also have a Quilt, a duvey, a childs Quilt, and a thin blanket. Sometimes I'll use them all. It can get really hot. I usually don't sleep well unless I'm sweating.

I make bed socks especially for this. I don't use them all the time, but when it's cold, they sure do help keep my feet warm. When I was a kid, we slept in unheated bedrooms and we would heat rocks on the wood stove, them wrap them in towels and take them to bed to put our feet against. That felt so good!

Yes, I knit the bed socks, but not out of wool. I use lightweight acrylic yarn for that. If my bedroom was really cold, I'd use wool. Another thing Mom started doing after we got older was to fill gallon jugs with secure lids with hot water. That keeps your feet warm, too - like a hot water bottle, but bigger so the heat lasts longer. Rocks last longest, though. We would wake up in morning with the rocks still warm.

Do you knit the bed socks and are they made of wool? Your story about heating rocks is interesting. Never heard of that method of keeping the feet warm. Thanks for responding.

No, I can not stand for socks to be on my feet when I go to sleep. I just to not be able to stand the covers to touch my feet but I am better about that now. I would like to be able to sleep with socks on as my feet freeze, but I can't.

Once I fall asleep my feet warm up. If I awake throughout the night I remove the socks as they feel binding. There are some spaceage, light weight socks that are sold. Don't know if they really work or not. Thanks for responding.

I can't sleep with socks on. If my feet are cold I heat up a rice bag and use that to warm them up. I sleep with flannel sheets and stay toasty most of the time.

The rest of me is warm all night and eventually my feet warm up but it's when I first get into bed they are ice cold. Flannel sheets, good idea. Does the rice bag work well? Thanks for responding.

It works very well! You can wrap your feet around it and cuddle them...just take some material and cut a square and fill it with rice. Heat in the micro wave for about 4 minutes!

I know its a bit gross, but in winter i cant sleep without socks. Firstly, they help keep my feet warm, and if they are warm, then its much easier to have my whole body warm. Furthermore, i use the socks to lock in position the lowest part of my pyjama trousers, so that it wont go higher and leave my lower leg uncovered

It depends, when I am cold when i go to sleep then yes I will wear socks. But I am not a big sock person in the summer I usually wear flip flops. But since its starting to make my feet rough I think I need to start wearing socks and shoes. But sometimes i feel comfortable wearing socks to bed.

I wear socks alot and tennis shoes. My feet are so soft so maybe there is something to not wearing flip flops all the time. I do wear them but not everyday. I start out at night with socks on but once my feet warm up, off they come. Thanks for responding.

I agree with you about the flooring. It's the owner's responsibility to take care of the floor. I wear socks around the house also during the day since my feet are cold most of the time. Every night I start out with socks on my feet but slip them off later. Thanks for responding.

Only if it's winter and my feet are really cold, or i might put foot cream on my feat and wear those 'moisturising' socks you can get, but normally i prefer not to.

I can't stand wearing socks while I'm sleeping. In the winter time when my feet do get cold and intangle my feet in my fiances legs and he always seems to warm them up and keep them warm for the night. One thing about him he is an excellent heater. He always seems to keep me warm.

Nope. I can't stand to sleep with socks on. I hate wearing socks normally, so I definitely can't stand wearing them in bed. My feet tend to get hot when I sleep, so I have to have bare feet and be able to pop at least one of my feet out of the covers.

For me, it depends on the weather. In the winter months, I most definitely have to wear socks to bed. The same as you, if my feet are cold, I'm not falling asleep. In the summer months though, I find that I really don't need them.

I am still wearing wool socks to bed in the summer to keep my feet warm. If I fall asleep and then wake up, my feet are warm and off come the socks. It's really annoying. Thanks for responding.

Never heard of spa socks. Might have to look into buying a pair. Someone suggested I buy camping socks as they are warmer than wool. Thanks for responding.

Wool? Oh my gosh, I can't stand the feeling of wool. I almost NEVER wear socks to bed, but I do love wearing the softest soft plush socks that I can find when my tootsies are cold. Actually, I'm really quirky about my feet - I love them being bare, but can't stand them being dirty. If I must wear socks, then I want them to be soft and cozy, and practically brand-new. Actually, talking about it made me realize that my feet're cold right now, so I think that I'll go put on a pair that I just bought today!

I haven't experience winter so I don't wear socks to sleep. Maybe if I get to migrate to a colder place, I will have to. My friends who have worked in Madrid did say she had to wear socks during bedtime.
