Do you have a bedtime routine?

Do you go to bed the same time every night? Do you read stories to your children? Do you snuggle up with the latest novel? Watch your tv? Brush teeth, wash face and then just crash? Just like everything else in my life, my bedtime routine is inconsistent. Some nights I can't sleep at all. Some nights (like tonight) the day is just too long and I just have to crash early. Tell me about your nightime routine.

In regard to your questions about bedtime routines.. Do we go to bed at the same time every night...no never. We are self-employed and do not have anyone to answer to ourselves...so we work when we feel like it...or not. Do you read stories to your children? No, we do not have any. Do you snuggle with the latest novel.. No, I am not into novels. Watch television.. Yes, every night before bed..it is how we wind down and relax. Brush teeth, wash face and then crash.. I do all that before I settle in to watch TV...and I rarely crash...unless I have overdone it...and that is a pattern I have mostly overcome..thankfully. So our nighttime routine consists of personal hygiene, making a cup of Sleepy time tea, David makes hot water bottles, we snuggle in front of the TV with our one dog and five cats until we are sleepy..then we head to bed and either sleep OR...well you can fill in the blanks on that one. I just go to bed whenever I can fall asleep. During the work week I'm sometimes in bed by 8pm sometimes by 11pm depends on how tired I am from work...On the weekends I go to bed at 3am sometimes later depends....Sometmes I have trouble sleeping at night n I usually just sleep better during the day. Idk why but I do LOL. My body is weird Like that I guess not sure....But I guess to answer you're question my bedtime routine is usually different each time I try to make it the same but doesn't alwayz work that way...

The only routine that I have is praying to God before going to bed and thanking Him for all the good things He has done for me that day.

No, I don't have pattern for going to bed. I tried to have it but I have kids that some times did not fall asleep easily. So it really unpredictable when I can go to bed, since I still need to do other things as well after kids go to bed.

I have no routine myself, although I would never go to bed without cleaning my teeth, but I find that routine works a treat for my nine month old son, bathing him really helps.

I am usually tapping away on the keyboard and surfing the internet before going to bed, I do try to limit the time I am on here, it is so easy to get carried away and the hours just shoot by, so I have a stop time which I abide by which is 2am, I do try to finish before then, I clean my teeth whilst I am downloading stuff so that might encourage me to switch off! Sometimes I will read a novel or do a suduku puzzle if I can't sleep. I work better at night, hence the late nights.

We really don't have a nighttime routine. We put our son to bed usually around 8:30 but sometimes he won't go to sleep then so he will be up for a little while longer. Then we watch tv or I might read or I might do some laundry...it just depends. I brush my teeth but I might stay up after I brushed my teeth and do some more things or I might go to bed then. Sometimes I get tired during the day or the kids might wear me out and then I might go to bed early. It's never the same thing. lol

Hi miamilady! Oh gosh, I really don't have a bedtime routine. Just like you, it is inconsistent. There are nights that I logged in here first, watch tv or sometimes I read a book. There are times that i get obsessed in finishing my projects to beat the deadline or sometimes I just daydream until I fell asleep. And sometimes, i can't sleep until it's the break of day. Sometimes, i have another shower before I sleep and some nights I don't. haha..The only routine I follow is I drink my vitamins, drink a cup of coffee or a glass of milk then brush my teeth and pray before I sleep each night. haha..Take care and have a nice day!

Oh yes, we sure do We have 2 and 4 year old and they both go to bed around 8 - 8:30pm. They take a bath every day, we read them 1 book of their choice (hopefully they don't choose a think one!) and then they go to sleep. Sometimes we have problems with our youngest one because he likes to get up out of the bed, although he knows it s big no no, but most of the time they are asleep by 9pm. me and my wife usually go to sleep as soon as we watch 11 o'clock news, read 1 chapter out of the bible and say a little prayer

We have a bedtime routine on school nights. We make the boys start taking showers and brushing their teeth around 8 and then at 8:45, we start in opisite rooms with the hugs and kisses goodnight and last minute conversations. My husband in one boys room and me in the other boys room. They are both in bed by 9 with their timer set on their TV for thirty minutes so that their TV will turn off at 9:30. Then my husband and I go around and make sure the lights are all out and the candles blown out. We say goodnight to the bird....."Night, night, gator bird" to which he always responds "Night, night bird" and then we go to bed. My husband usually falls straight to sleep and I lay with him and watch TV until I fall asleep around 11 or 12. We get up at 4:30 every morning.

I don't have a routine, Some nights I go to sleep early, others real late, It all depends on if there is a good movie on t.v. or not.

At one time, when I worked 7 to 3 everyday, I had a consistant bedtime! In 1992, I worked for the last time at a 7 to 3 job! I went into truck driving, and didn't have any kind of set hours to work! We worked at all hours of the day, sometimes all hours of the night, so you never knew when you would get to sleep, and I never had a routine at all! Now I just take care of my parents at home, and sometimes I work in the day, and sometimes I work at night, It just varies so much, that you never know when you may get to sleep in the day or in the night! Thank goodness for the computer, for on the nights that I can't sleep at all also!

I think I'm a real creature of habit...When I finally decide to pull myself away from the computer (anywhere between 12 midnight or..gasp much later)..I fill a hot bath and relax for awhile, bathing in candlelit and have incense going..then settle to watch a little TV..usually popping in a DVD movie to watch awhile...I usually have some kind of late night snack..which lately has been consisting of having a bowl of chicken soup to help this cold from hell...LOL.....sometimes as I'm watching the TV I'll go back to the computer to check if any new mail has come in or even respond to just one or two more discussions here..then settle into bed and snuggle up to read for a bit before I fall asleep..by then, my two cats hop on my bed to keep me company too...then it's nighty night to the world...

Hello dear miamilady. I usually sleep very late at night at about 12 and get up at about close to seven in the morning. I might sleep rather late when the next day is holiday and will get up late as well. Usually I can fall asleep after about half an hour, but sometimes it is about one hour before I can fall asleep, especially when my mind is still active about something in mind. By the way, I do not read novels or magazines, nor do I watch TV, but surf online instead. Thanks.
