Shoes! Do you buy expensive ones?

Do you have a thing about shoes? How many pairs do you own? I love to go shoe shopping and yes, I admit I go overboard when it comes to buying shoes. Oh well, I don't spend a lot on my shoes and I am not particular to certain brands. I know some people will only buy expensive shoes, $75 and up and think they are better made, etc. I tried that route once, my feet hurt from the shoes being uncomfortable and the heels wore down just as fast or faster than the brands I bought before that didn't cost an arm or let. I figure since I don't spend as much on my shoes, I can have more pairs. My husband thinks this is funny but he has gotten used to it and just rolls his eyes now when he sees a new shoebox. LOL! What about you? Do you shop only designer brands of shoes that cost a pretty penny? Or do you just buy shoes you like wherever you find them--at the local department store, Target, or even Walmart?

I usually just buy shoes at Goody's or Fashion Bug or someplace like that. I like buying shoes when they are on sale at the shoe stores but I don't pay the high prices for them. I love shoes and I have a ton of them. My husband says I have a shoe problem because I even buy tons of shoes for my son too. lol

I don't spend much on shoes - usually around 20-40 dollars. I once spent about 150 dollars on a pair of good boots, unfortunately they didn't turn out to be as good as people said and they my legs and feet bleed continuously. I only ever have around 2 pairs (well I am a guy!) and I normally destroy them pretty quickly. I do a lot of travelling though.

well i am shoe person i have to admit. but i don really buy expensive shoes. oh my eyes travel towards them but at the same time, i'm money conscious so i tend to stay away from them. grins. for me, brands and all don't really matter as shoes seem to last long with me unlike some of my neighbours here. hehe i buy a shoe that i feel comfortable in wherever i find them but of course, i only buy them when i am in need of them. i do like to gather them, different occasions or match with different clothes. my husband is amazed too at the number of shoes i have.

grins, more or less i am. my husband does give opinions on the shoes but in the end, it depends on whether i feel comfortable with the shoes. and i got to admit, i have very 'fussy' feet. hehehe also i tend to have those blisters easily not on the sole but on my foot itself. if you get what i mean.

I guess I suffered the consequences, as I always look for cheap shoes because they can be very expensive and I am on a tight budget, I never buy designer ones because you are just paying for the name, anyhow I found some great slip ons which looked really good on me and they were cheap! However even tho' I have broken them in they still give me blisters!!! That'll teach me for buying cheap. There's nothing worse than shoes that rub, I go for comfort and next time I am prepared to pay extra, after all I do a lot of walking and you can easily get another pair of shoes but sadly you can't purchase a new pair of feet!

Shall I be honest with you, I was cheeky because your discussion gave me great inspiration for my limbs r us discussion! Wouldn't it be lovely if we could unscrew our feet after a day on them and leave them in soak over night, or better still go to the shop and order a new pair!!

I am definitely a shoe fiend, that's for sure. I am a sneaker head, I collect all kinds of sneakers. At one time, I had almost 55 pairs of shoes, the bottom of my closer at my parents' home was full of shoeboxes and pairs of shoes. Nowadays, my inventory isn't that big anymore, I donated a lot of them to charities when I moved in with my wife because space was scarce. I think right now I've got about 20-25 pairs of shoes. I would like to have more, but that's life, right? As far as how much I've spent on shoes, it's been a lot. I've spent more than $200 for shoes. A pair of Gucci sneakers that I bought once was $350, but I have tamed out a lot. I will splurge for shoes every now and again, but I try to stay reasonable. I buy my shoes on sale or on discount. Although again, I will pay for shoes sometimes.

i cant help it! i just have to add you as friend! hardly can find any guys that are into shoes. in fact, the male species who bothers about their feet means they are different from the rest. i tend to think that they pay more attention to details. :)

I have difficulty finding comfortable shoes in man made materials. I get my shoes from Free Rangers, an expensive mail order shop. They sell shoes made out of lorica. Their shoes are delightfully soft and comfortable. Wearing a pair of them is like having comfy slippers on. I have two pairs of Free Rangers. In addition I have a pair of winter boots made from plastic, a pair of sandals made from plastic and some beach shoes made from rubber. I go in the sea with material shoes, the sort of thing people wear when on a slippery deck of a boat. Free Rangers cost about £75 and I send them back for a revamp every few months. Then a new sole goes on them and they come back looking almost as good as new.

I can't say I have a thing for shoes but I seem to end up with everyone else's though. All are new when I get them and for the life of me, the expense that were paid, why they don't take them back I don't know. They must have a money tree in their backyard. LOL If I were to buy shoes, it would be cheap cheap cheap however I can't buy from Walmart because they all hurt my feet but believe it or not I can buy from K-mart and wear them just fine.

It's funny how some brands are taboo and like you say hurt! Our Kmarts have closed in this area but I didn't have very much luck with their shoes. Walmart carries a couple of brands that will work for me. I love the Earth Shoes!

Oh my gosh!! I forgot about the earth shoes!! Yes I love them too!! They're the only ones that I like as long as they're not closed in around the toes. I found that out from a friend who had them and let me try them on and I loved them and had to get a pair. Thanks for reminding me!! LOL

I am all about Payless! I will buy a few pairs of nice shoes every few years but the most I've paid was around $50. I think my wedding shoes were the last pair I bought that was over $50 and that was for good reason! Otherwise, I buy mostly from Payless because that way I can own MORE shoes :-D I am obsessed with Sandals b/c they are cute and I also buy a lot of high heeled shoes that I don't wear often just b/c I don't want to walk all day in them at work. Nowadays, I try to control myself and only buy shoes to replace a pair that's worn out. But I do need some beach sandals ;) All I have is high heeled sandals and I need some flat sandals for my next vacation :-D

You can't beat Payless! It's even better if you catch a good sale there, like 2 for 1 shoes. The more the merrier!!

I often will buy a brand that I like when I find it on sale. I don't like to spend more than $50.00 on any pair, and I will seek out sales if I think there is something there I might want.

I can't afford much for shoes but I'm lucky to have a name brand clearance store where I can shop.. I have a wide variety (huge actually) of styles to choose from priced from $29.95. They are usually reduced from 30%-60%. They are fabulous quality too.

I don't buy really expensive ones. I end up going to outlets and buying my shoes there. However, my closet is filled with shoes and hand bags! I have a thing about them apparently.

My daughter works in a shoe store. I have so many pairs of shoes I do not know what to do with. I do not buy as many shoes as I use to. I fact I have not bought shoes in over a year. I do not have to she gives them to me. When I was working out of the home I wore my shoes out not that I wear shoes in frequently they do not get worn out as fast. I find I need expensive shoes because I have had foot surgery.

I have tried cheap shoes and non branded shoes and I have noticed that it won't last. I would end up buying another shoe to replace the damage one. Come to some it all, I would end up spending more that I have to in the long run. So now, I usually invest on shoes with brands rather than buy from any other place which you cannot be sure of quality. Here in country there are a lot of flea markets that sell shoes and they often would not last for a month or two.

I have actually gone shoe shopping before but I am a guy and I shop like a guy I walk into the store and find a pair of lace up shoes and try them on if they fit I walk up to the counter and pay for them lol I do understand where you are coming from when you talk about shoes that hurt because I have had a few pairs like that before, they really suck! I really do agree with the old saying that you get what you pay for especially whenever it comes to shoes because if you pay a cheap price youll get cheap shoes!

I wish it were that easy for my husband!! He tries on every pair in the store. When I go shoe shopping with him it is at least an hour in each store. I always pray he finds a pair at the first store...LOL! I can walk in and browse, try on and make a selection in less than 10 minutes. It's pretty simple, you like them, they fit and are comfortable, you buy! Thanks for giving us another guy perspective!

I like having lots of different color shoes for the summer. I like to match my shoes with my clothes. I have several styles of black, blue, red, white, pink. I don't wear that many different kind in the winter, its yucky weather and I don't want to mess up my shoes. hehe.

That's true. I want my feet warm if it is cold, otherwise just give me a comfortable shoe. I have on a pair of shoes like Crocs right now. We are in the 50's and the sun is out.

I buy inexpensive, no particular brand, for dress shoes. They will only be on my feet four hours max, so I can go with just about anything. For shoes that I have to wear while I stand or walk a lot, for a whole day, I have to buy name brand athletic shoes.

When I choose for shoes, I pay attention to if they are really comfortable and how they look. Most of my shoes are a bit expensive (not designer brands but they are trendy and comfy at the same time). And because I wear high heels a lot, I don't go to some cheap stores to buy my shoes, I tried and they suck (couldn't even walk). Since I don't shop for shoes too often, so it's fine for me to buy a bit more expensive shoes *smiles*.

Wow... I love shoes too! I don't like to spend a lot of money on them because for some reason I wear them out quickly. My most expensive ones are my sneakers! (Nike shox) I go to a local store near my work where all the shoes are 5.99 and the sale ones are 3.00. With $30.00 I get 5 pairs. Once they break or wear down I simply toss them and get new ones! They are really pretty shoes too!

occassionally as a treat... haha! i do buy expensive shoes but its cap at a certain price. then again, the cheap shoes do give me problems like poor support and uncomfortable, cutting into the skin at the back of my ankle... but i think i am a shoe freak! if its during a sale, i could buy like 4 pairs at a go. hence i have stacks of shoe boxes in my room in 2 neat rows. some of them not worn yet - in queue. haha!
