Be careful. with this, I just get a letter in my email about paypal. Here is the letter: Dear Marcia Scott The two desposits that Paypal sent to your Bank verification process were returned to us for the following reason, you bank did not recognize this account number please check the bank account number and the routing number you entered, If they are correct please call the bank. If you feel this rejection is an error you may email Paypal at Customer Service to verify this bank account by going to then they have this website. I won't put the website but I know this is a bunch of bull$hit so I am telling everyone be cafeful with this, because Paypal is not always paypal, look for the secure sign or logo, ecause they do have phoney signs and logo's, anyway I call the bank, they know nothing about this, so I am not going to worry. Do you think I should send that email to Paypal, or leave it alone. I am supposed to get pay Feb 1st. on this one website. That is the website on my profile. I hop noting gets screwed up. Ok, tell me what you think? (Hugs)

Yes, you should forward the mail to PayPal if you believe that there is something screwy with it. NEVER use links in emails like this. Even if they look 100% legitimate, hover your mouse over the link first. Your browser or email client will show where the link would REALLY take you. If it is different from the URL displayed then the mail is a fraud. It is possible that someone has hacked your PayPal account. Log on to it and change your password IMMEDIATELY. If you are unable to log on, then someone has already changed it. Contact PayPal at once giving as full details as you can. If you are able to phone them, so much the better.

I was on my Ebay today and again the ID of a nasty myLot person popped onto my screen. I told myLot about this happening before with the same person when I was on the PayPal screen but myLot did not even have the decency to respond. So somehow myLot, Paypal and Ebay are linked and hackers are trying to get info.

Dont trust with the email. There are honest and unhonest people in lives. there are bad and good, there are evil and angel. Only in heaven there will be only honest, and good people.

I won't, but I was concerned at first, I even went to my account, because I have some money from my other website there I am letting the money build up so once I get a large amount I can tell Paypal to sent it to the bank. Thanks!

thats scary.. these days people will do everything to make some money.. even fool people and pretend something else. I pity paypal, they are always abused and used as well for scams and other money vulture site. i'll take note of that style and trick, thanks for this info and for the warning, this could save others too. take care!

Yes, this is common, I received almost the same message, but I suspected it and I called Paypal headquarters, and they told me that it was a phishing that was trying to get my info! The way they told me is, when they address you as paypal customer it's not real, when they address you by your name it is real! And they also told me to report every one of these incidents to them, so they can trace them down!

I get emails like this all of the time too. I heard that you need to watch out for the website address when visiting sites. For instance, Paypal address always starts with https: Most of these scam mails are addressed with http: without the "s".

We have no pay pal account, as it is not applicable in our country. We have money booker’s account and also e-gold account was applicable for the people of our area. We should also take care in all types of accounts as there is lot of cyber crimes being practiced on line.

Marcia, PayPal has a security center and they really do want you to send these scam e-mails to them. Go to PayPal by TYPING-IN the url, then look for the security section. They give you directions on copying these e-mails to include all the source codes.

I had that happen a couple of times. I suspected it was a phony e-mail so I forwarded it to paypal. I especially know it's a fake when it is sent to one of my other e-mail addresses. You also might want to get their security key. That way no one but you can access your account because they send you a key. It's like a key chain and every time you log in, you have to push the button to reveal 6 numbers. Check out security on the paypal website. cdejac

Just make sure it is a secured site, you will see it at the bottom, or end of the website, It is usually in the cornner, if you go to the website. What you could do is take some advice from some of the people in this disussions, go around in the discussion and ask questions on here, You will get an extra point for 1 person Always make sure it is a secured site, and make sure you see a logo.

I absolutely think that you should email paypal because what if something is wrong and for some reason someone is trying to scam you some way or something like that and you can't get paid by this site or any other site....and if not that what if someone is trying to do something and other people get scammed by it....they could be out of alot of moeny because they might have gotten scammed and you could have helped them keep their money by bringing it to paypals attention. I would defiently email paypal if i were in your shoes!

If you think you are being "phished?" you probably are. This is an attempt to obtain your account information. Do not give it away. Send the whole letter, as you got it, to : spoof@paypal.com Let them take care of it. They will.

I think its good that you called your bank to verify it and they said nothing like this happened so it sounds like it is a scam to me and I would just ignore the email. Someone probably just wants to get your bank info so they can rob your account. It was smart of you to check with you bank.

someone sent me scam emails about e gold too. it says something about my account there deactivated or deleted something so I have to provide password to be able to login again. I don't even remember having egold account let alone the password :) even if I do have it I won't be able to give out the password anyway, also I never give password to anyone. Did you actually login to your actual account at paypal? did you see the same notice?

that happened to me twice send the email to spoof@paypal.com luckily mine were easily traceable but anything i get from there is checked out b4 i take action . call them and let them know that u have sent them a copy of the receipt but when it happened to me i was not even informed by email it was on the website that i was trying to use. so it was probably a fraud check with paypal

I have been receiving emails (supposedly) from Paypal for over a year. They usually come in on Sundays, but other times occasionally. Mine usually say that I need to update my paypal account. I contacted Paypal and they said this is somebody trying to get into my bank account. DO NOT answer this email. Contact paypal the way you usually contact them and speak with somebody there. NEVER do anything like answering their email. Contact Paypal immediately to let them know what it happening.

Those faux sites can't do anything to your actual PayPal account if you did not give them any information. Yes you should contact PayPal. They alsway keep a list of scams with there site. They may very well want to know about this situation.
